Biomedical engineering exists at the interface of engineering and medical science. Biomedical engineers are tasked with developing technical and methodological solutions to meet the needs of the healthcare community through the application of fundamental engineering principles. To this end, the curriculum at KMITL encompasses aspects of bio, chemical, electronic, mechanical and software engineering as well as fundamental topics associated with medical and pharmaceutical sciences.

Important biomedical engineering applications include the design and development of diagnostic and therapeutic medical devices such as prostheses, implants and EKGs, the application of tissue and genetic engineering in medical fields, drug design and development, optical imaging and radiation-based treatment methodologies, IT integration strategies and many more.

To Study BME 7 SUBFIELDS

Biomedical Engineering is a field that integrates knowledge from "Engineering + Medical Science" to design, create, or develop standardized Medical Software, Devices, or Instruments that are practical and functional. It also involves researching new, complex technologies that require high-standard and high-efficiency production processes.

Students can choose to study in 7 subfields, including:

Medical Instrumentation (BME-BMIT)
Health Informatics (BME-HIT)
Pharmaceutical Engineering (BME-PHA)
Pre-Dentistry (BME-DENT): An 8-year program leading to two degrees in Biomedical Engineering and International Dentistry KMITL.
2 + 2 BME-GG: A 4-year program earning two degrees in Biomedical Engineering from KMITL and the University of GLASGON,UK.
2 +2 BME-ADE: A 4-year program earning two degrees in Biomedical Engineering from KMITL and the University of ADELAIDE, AUSTRALIA
3 + 2 BME-NCKU: A 5-year program earning two degrees, a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering from KMITL and a master's degree from NCKU TAIWAN.
