Welcome families!

Please use this website as a way to learn more about the three possible Research Pathways for GT students. Your child can choose one of the following pathways in which to participate during the school year. Each pathway has unique characteristics that allow students choice in exploring topics that are of interest to them. In Klein ISD we want all GT students to have the opportunity to explore their purpose through research!

Please contact your GT Advocate or GT Administrator for specific information related to your student's campus. For answers to frequently asked questions, please see below.

Through specific learning experiences, students will extend their learning through various academic clubs or groups such as MATH CLUB, CODING CLUB, ROBOTICS, DESTINATION IMAGINATION, or PENTATHLON. These experiences will lead them to develop advanced level products, and/or performances. Students who elect the Research Pathway, Learning Experiences, will complete a learning contract throughout the year.

Utilizing John Spencer's LAUNCH Cycle, students will develop products and/or performances for Klein ISD audiences outside of their classroom. They will expand their thinking and tap into their natural wonder by conducting advanced research and collaborating on a topic they are passionate about. GT students may choose a pre-planned ENVISION project or choose their own topic. Learners will participate in events such as campus based HISTORY FAIR or SCIENCE FAIR, then share their learning at the annual Klein ISD GT Expo. As the school year progresses, research milestones will help them reach their goals and achieve success.

The Research Milestones will include...

HISTORY FAIR: Regional, State, & National

SCIENCE FAIR: Regional, State, & National

AP CAPSTONE

Texas Performance Standards Project (TPSP)

INNOVATION CHALLENGES: Finals

AND MORE!

GT students will seek a new and deeper depth of knowledge on a topic they are passionate about as they develop sophisticated products and/or performances using John Spencer's LAUNCH Cycle. Their products/performances must be assessed by external evaluators who are knowledgeable in the field. They will conduct advanced research, collaborate with peers and experts, present their work, and receive critical feedback to improve their learning. Events where students share their sophisticated products includes regional, state, and national rounds for HISTORY FAIR  & SCIENCE FAIR, or the finals for INNOVATION CHALLENGES. As the school year progresses, research milestones will help them reach their goals and achieve success.
