Hello My Name Is...Mrs. Cathy Dudley

My Credentials:

I teach music at McDougle Elementary. In fact, I am one of the teachers who opened McDougle back in August of 2004. 2018/2019 will be my 25th year of teaching elementary school music. This will be my fourteenth year at McDougle. I received a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in Indiana (1982). I earned a Master of Music in Music Education and my Kodaly Certification from the University of Houston (1988). I enjoy teaching music to your children.

A Little Bit About Me:

I grew up in Lake County (Northwest) Indiana, literally, right on the IL/IN State Line, just 30 minutes from downtown Chicago, IL. My father is Italian & my mother, Irish...So, that makes me a half Italian/half Irish Chicagoan. I moved to Houston in 1984. I love sports! Okay, and, of course, music.

Yep. I said, "I Love Sports!" Favorite MLB Teams: The Chicago Cubs/National League & The Houston Astros/American League...Would LOVE to see a Cubs/Astros World Series! My favorite NFC team: The Chicago Bears; my favorite AFC team: The Houston Texans. Let's hope for a better season than last year - "Go Bears!" and "Go Texans!" Hoping for a Bears/Texans Super Bowl! As for the NBA, you guessed it!...My favorite teams are The Chicago Bulls/Eastern Conference & The Houston Rockets/Western Conference - Can't wait to see them meet in The Finals one year soon!

A Little Bit About My Family:

I have been married to my husband, Brian, for 31 years. I am "mom" to two daughters, Leighann & Rebecca. I "interrupted" my teaching career after the birth of my first child, Leighann. I did the next best thing, I became a stay-at-home mom & stayed home for 11 years. I worked part-time & volunteered. I taught early childhood, preschool & Kindergarten music for five years at John Wesley Preschool - the same school my daughters attended. I volunteered - A LOT! I joined the PTO at Benfer Elementary & was their Music Appreciation Coordinator for six years. Also joined, volunteered & fund-raised for the PTO & Choir at Strack Intermediate & the PTO, TAP and the Choir & Theatre Booster Clubs at Klein Collins High School. And, since Rebecca has been at A&M, I'm a member of the Northwest Harris County Aggie Mom's Club...I attend meetings, donate food, fundraise & do whatever I need to do...

A Few Words About Volunteering:

Volunteering for KISD doesn't stop when you're kids leave elementary school.

I have logged many volunteer hours at Strack & Klein Collins HS, too.

My Daughters:

Leighann is 26 years old. She lives in N.Y.C. & is trying to "make it" on Broadway. This summer, Leighann is in Santa Fe, NM, working with the Santa Fe Opera Summer Series. She will return to N.Y.C. & The Theatre District in August.

Rebecca is 21 years old. She is her fourth year at Texas A&M University. Becca's majoring in Bio-Medical Engineering. Becca is, currently, studying for the MCAT, doing research at A&M & volunteering at a prenatal clinic in College Station.

My daughters are Klein I.S.D. Kids!! They attended Benfer Elementary, Strack intermediate & Klein Collins H.S.

Leighann & Rebecca love music, too! Both of them joined choir when they were in 4th grade at Benfer Elementary. They continued to choose Choir as one of their electives every year from 6th grade-Senior year of High School. So many Concerts, Contests, Trips, Parties, Fundraisers, Performances & Life-long Friendships - They LOVED it! Even now, they still love to sing, play piano & ukulele.

Also, both of my daughters love football, basketball, baseball, hockey & just about any great sporting event! "Yes!"

Our Kitty:

We have an adorable black and white cat...And, Yes, her name is Kitty! - Real creative, right? - She's an old Kitty; she's 12. Kitty loves to just sit around. We think that Kitty loves football, too; because she watches the games with us. Who knows for sure?
