Revision techniques
When revising Maths, mind maps can be a powerful tool to organize and consolidate information. Begin by identifying the main topics or concepts you need to revise. These could include algebra, geometry, calculus, etc. Once you have your topics, create a central node on your mind map representing Maths. Then, branch out from the central node to create sub-nodes for each topic. For example, under algebra, you might have sub-nodes for equations, functions, and inequalities. As you delve deeper into each topic, continue branching out to include important definitions, formulas, and examples. Use colors, symbols, and images to make your mind map visually appealing and aid in memory retention. When adding information, be concise and focus on key points to avoid overwhelming yourself. Mind maps allow you to see connections between different concepts, helping you understand how they relate to each other. Additionally, they provide a quick overview of the entire subject, making it easier to pinpoint areas that need more attention. Regularly reviewing and updating your mind map as you progress through your revision will reinforce your understanding and improve retention of Maths concepts.
Year 7 Puppetry Shows
This term, Year 7 have dived into the world of Puppetry and have been developing their own Puppet Shows. In Drama, they have learned how to write a Puppetry script that aims to teach a moral to the audience. In Music, they have written their very own theme tunes and sound effects for their shows. And, in Art, the students have actually learned how to make their very own 3D puppets. In a couple of weeks, they will combine these skills with their IT skills to transform their Puppet Shows into mini films, using a green screen.
We cannot wait to see the final results- be prepared for an invite to our Puppetry Cinema Viewing towards the end of term.

We are finishing the last school term of 2024 and our Y11 students are participating in their international French IGCSE French Foreign Language and French First Language exams for Francophone students.
Likewise, those taking DP2 have already finished their exams in the three levels offered by Kisu French B at Subsidiary level and in High Level, or Spanish Ab initio course for beginners, which corresponds to level A2 close to B1 within the European framework of reference.
On the other hand, French B HL students can choose to do their Extended Essay in French. We wish them all the greatest success !!!
It should be noted that the other courses have internal final exams following the models of international exams, being evaluated in four exams: Writing and Reading comprehension and Listening and oral production.
Some KS3 courses have promoted the subject with a project with a personal presentation in front of the classroom on several topics studied during the school year.
Our courses develop the topics through authentic materials that are uploaded to Google Classroom, in addition to the books that complete the syllabus of the corresponding exams.
We are pleased to announce that next year we will open a new Language and Literature course for Francophones students in DP1.
We also continue to promote our weekly support clubs in French and Spanish for all students who need a more personalized explanation. Remember to register at the beginning of the year on the club list.

A Celebration of Fun and Generosity
From Monday 13th May to Friday 17th May, the KISU Secondary Student Council hosted a vibrant and engaging Spirit Week. This event allowed both primary and secondary students to dress up in fun themes while contributing to charitable causes. The themes were: Jersey Day on Monday, Dine Out Day on Tuesday, Pyjama Day on Wednesday, Twin Day on Thursday, and Oldies’ Day on Friday.
A highlight of the week was the first-ever student-led assembly on Tuesday 14th May. This assembly featured a compelling presentation on mental health awareness by Areen (Y8) and Daniella, along with three musical performances by Jared, Emma and the band. Additionally, Yoab (Y8) addressed the students, and Thijmen, together with Mr. Jude, conducted an insightful interview with two DP2 students (Nigel and Karen) and the Deputy Head of Secondary (Mr. Buga). A Special thanks goes to the MC’s, Laaibah (Y10) and Hannah (DP1), for their excellent hosting.
Spirit Week was not just about fun but also about making a difference. The event successfully raised 1,871,000 UGX, part of which will be donated to the Rotary Club of Kisaasi’s ‘Ride Against Malaria’ initiative and youth empowerment programs through the Hope4Katanga project. This week truly showcased the KISU community’s spirit and generosity.
