Congratulations to our DP2 students!
This month's IB newsletter edition is dedicated to the Class of 2024! To our DP2 students... you made it!
Firstly, I would like to start by saying a HUGE congratulations to the Class of 2024 for their achievements and dedication. At the start of this academic year, I reiterated to all of the DP2 students that "It's a new start" and this was their time to work hard, persevere and shatter the glass ceilings. Throughout the year, the majority of our students have excelled and made tremendous progress.
One of my favourite quotes comes from Nelson Mandela, who in 2001 stated:
"It always seems impossible until it's done"
This quote speaks volumes and is a strong reminder that whilst something may seem inaccessible or impossible, perseverance is the key to achieving success.
Below, I have included an article written by our DP1 students on the organisation of the DP2 Prom and brunch. The rest of the newsletter contains images from the graduation, prom, parade and brunch.

DP1 CAS Project: Organising the DP2 Prom and Brunch
Since November 2023, all of the DP1 class has been raising money for the DP2 Prom. In regards to the CAS requirements, a CAS project needs to demonstrate one month’s worth of planning and collaboration. It was quite a lengthy project as it involved organising several fundraisers such as parties, tuck shops and dress up days. Through the course of 6 months, we endured lots of challenges, which included finding decorators, organising the design and layout for the prom, decorating the venue and also ensuring that the food was within budget and appealing to a wider audience. We are really pleased to announce that we overcame several hurdles and succeeded in raising a little over UGX12,000,000. Our initial goal was to raise UGX20,000,000, yet we realised that this would be challenging within the time period that we had. As a result, we budgeted effectively and ensured that the prom would be successful!
On Saturday 18th May, the DP2 Prom was held at school in the Main Auditorium. Students from Year 11, DP1 and DP2 were invited from 6-10:30pm. This CAS project was incredibly successful, yet it required a lot of collaboration as there were many areas to organise. As a class, we shared responsibility and learned about the importance of communication skills and team wotk.
On Friday 24th May, DP1 organised a brunch for the DP2 students and teachers to celebrate their successes. As a class, the DP1s were responsible for setting up the event, which included bringing/cooking food, setting up tables and serving the food. By the time the DP2s and teachers started arriving, we had finished organising the tables and setting up the food. The event was a success as it allowed the graduands to talk with teachers and friends while enjoying their brunch. The atmosphere was quite relaxed and welcoming. At the end of the brunch, we also had to clean up the tables and clear the food which was a little draining but we were able to complete it all together. This event helped us to improve our time management skills because we knew if we arrived late we would have been in a rush to organise the preparations. As a class, we were faced with challenges such as; a shortage of tablecloths, a lack of serving dishes and temperamental weather.
As a class, we would like to thank the Senior Leadership Team for their guidance and unwavering support in the organisation of Prom and Brunch 2024. It wouldn’t have been possible without their help.
