Don't forget half term - Thursday 15th & Friday 16th February
What a busy January indeed! During our Understanding of the World sessions this month we have been learning about pets, sea creatures, wild animals and farm animals. Some of our Reception children brought their pets in for show and tell which was incredibly exciting and informative! The children taught us how to care for our pets, what kind of games are pet appropriate, their pets diet and we learnt that just like us- animals have feelings too.
As a Literacy Hook to the story ‘The Little Red Hen’ the children came back from Assembly to find the Little Red Hen (ie Oscars Hen Henrietta), a letter from the little red hen and the story for us to read.
This month we also had our school pictures taken- a memory that we will add to our educational journey throughout Reception. Ms Dima.
The new year began with a promise and a resolution for the students in Reception VG, who were happy to be back at school after the long break. We wrote down their goals together and displayed them to remind themselves of their commitment.
The excitement and energy level of the students has been commendable this month and it is evident in their individual tasks. Be it making models using 3D shapes, solving addition and subtraction word problems, learning about all the amazing animals around us, understanding story structure and retelling using a range of connectives and beginning to draft their own stories. Reception VG students have been active learners and we are super proud of them. Ms Varsha.
In KG3, children immersed themselves in learning about pets. They took responsibility for the classroom fish and the school rabbit, ensuring they were well-fed and cared for. The excitement peaked when a special visitor waddled in – a real chicken. The lively interactions provided a hands-on experience, fostering a deeper understanding of animal care and empathy. Through these activities, KG3 not only expanded their knowledge of various pets but also cultivated a sense of responsibility and connection with the animal kingdom. Such engaging experiences contribute significantly to their early education and holistic development. Ms Khalida.
