As these students, Pars and Joury, from Year 6 have been facing challenges in terms of their English acquisition, I decided to offer an extra class to them every Wednesday to boost their abilities.
Focusing on Active and Interactive Learning, I got the students to take the lead in class today, and it was definitely an enjoyable and productive session :)

Early in November, select Year 4 students were invited to a Maths Day celebration at Acacia international School.
The students divided themselves up into inter-school teams and rotated through stations exploring various Maths concepts through hands-on activities and games.
Esme says, “I liked doing the measurement, but I also liked using clay to make different shapes!”
Working with new friends, the students explored geometry by making origami animals. They estimated weights and used scales.
“I met someone new and then I saw them at a basketball game!” Kiyansh reminisced. “We talked and they also remembered me!”
Jayne remembers the day with excitement in her voice. "I didn't get any wrong during the Maths Jenga," she says. "I used the inverse to check my addition."
Overall, the students had a great time representing our school and making new friends!

Year 4 students had a fantastic time engaging in a variety of activities during Health Week. Among the highlights was the challenge of completing the Daily Mile, equivalent to running four laps around the KISU field. Students enthusiastically set personal goals, with many exceeding the one-mile target and pushing themselves even further.
In addition to the Daily Mile, the children participated in a range of activities designed to promote physical and mental well-being. They practiced body scans, learning to be mindful of how their bodies felt and developing a deeper sense of self-awareness. Yoga and breathing exercises became a favorite, helping students relax and focus while strengthening their flexibility. During quiet moments, they enjoyed listening to calming, healing music as they worked on intricate mindful coloring designs, fostering both creativity and tranquility.
Health Week also encouraged healthy eating habits. The students delighted in nutritious snacks, learning how balanced food choices fuel their bodies and minds. Through these experiences, they not only had fun but also developed a greater appreciation for leading a healthy lifestyle.
The lessons and joy from Health Week remain with us, inspiring students to stay active, mindful, and healthy throughout the year. It’s more than just a week; it’s a spark that we hope continues to shine brightly in the months ahead!

This term, Year 3 have been transported back in time to explore the world of the Stone Age through a variety of creative and hands-on activities.
The children dived into the lives of early humans by researching Stone Age animals and learning about their habitats and interactions with humans. They showcased their creativity by designing and crafting Stone Age tools, which they later presented in a "Dragons' Den" style activity. Pitching their ideas to their peers, they explained the functionality and importance of their tools with impressive persuasion.
In addition, Year 3 students created stunning Stone Age-inspired jewellery, gaining insight into the artistic side of this era. They also experimented with cooking, preparing delicious stewed fruit to experience how early humans might have made use of simple, natural ingredients.
These engaging activities have truly brought the Stone Age to life in our classroom, sparking curiosity and creativity.

On Wednesday October 30th the year 6 class took a day trip to the Entebbe Zoo to enhance our learning in science. We've been covering animal classification and grouping while focusing on observable characteristics. Learners had a chance to observe animals, identify features and then classify them accordingly. It was a great outing and the learners thoroughly enjoyed putting all they've learnt in theory to practical use.

On Monday 18th November the year 6 students shared all they have learnt thus far in their year 6 assembly. The learners enjoyed coming up with the ideas allowing for creativity as well as a chance for reflection on their learning. Parents were encouraged to attend the assembly to watch and support their child.

Today, I saw an elephant.
It wasn't an ordinary elephant. It had giant ears coloured like a butterfly's wings. One horn was bigger than the other. It was basking in the sun, moving around the tall yellow grass. It's big bright eye turned to me, and it pulled its long nose to honk at me. Its pale grey skin stretched out. Surprisingly, it did not charge at me. I simple lay down, rested its giant legs, and honked a big honk.
Today, I saw an elephant.
