Grades 6 - 10 students are required to participate in a minimum of four initiatives during the academic year.
Self-Initiated Activity
One self-initiated activity is compulsory.
The activity must be a group initiative.
The initiative must be completed by Semester I.
The students should ensure that the activity is completed within a month and a half from the time their proposal has been approved.
This will be the initiative that will be showcased at the Service As Action Exhibition.
The following learning outcomes must be achieved with this initiative:
Undertake challenges that develop new skills
Discuss, evaluate, and plan student-initiated activities
Work collaboratively with others
During this initiative, students must go through the full cycle of Investigation, Planning, Action & Reflection.
Additionally, 3 or more initiatives have to be completed to fulfill the remaining learning outcomes.
The other initiatives can be:
Individual or group initiatives
Self-initiated or school-initiated
Requirements for each Grade
The requirements vary between grades and for more information click on your respective grade. The SAA component at KIS has been designed in such a way that students have to complete:
6 learning outcomes over the course of Grade 6 to 8
7 learning outcomes over the course of Grade 9 to 10
Initiatives must adhere to the following guidelines:
Ensure real and purposeful activities with proper and significant outcomes.
Challenge the students and push them toward achieving more.
Involve planning, reviewing progress, reporting and reflections.
Bring forth personal reflections on outcomes and personal learning.

Personal projects
SEED classes
Activities where students are personally rewarded financially
Duties at home or assisting anyone in the family
Work/internship that benefits only the student
