Cell Phone & Electronics Policy

Dear Sol families, 

Over the last few days there have been several reports of students posting pictures on social media without consent. Some pictures have occurred on our campus. This upcoming week we will be dedicating a community time to talk about internet safety and the potential consequences of these actions both in and outside of school. We recognize that the internet can be a helpful tool for our students and community, but also want to take this time to create a learning opportunity about the potential dangers as well. 

Attached are some resources that can help families facilitate conversations at home with their KIPPsters to create a safer environment and internet experience. As a reminder, students receive a reminder as they walk on campus to put their cell phones away in their backpacks. If a student is seen with their cell phone out, a teacher/ administrator will confiscate their phone for the day. Cell phones are available for pick up after school at the dismissal gate. On the third confiscation, a family meeting will take place before the cellphone is handed to the student.
