Bullying is never okay, and if you see it happening or experience it yourself, it’s important to speak up right away. Students should immediately report any bullying concerns to Dr. Meco, Assistant Principal of Culture (misadore@kippnashville.org) or Ms. Reltherford, Behavior Support Specialist (kirston.reltherford@kippnashville.org).
Depending on the situation, School Counselors may be asked to support students with their emotional or mental well-being, and school leadership may also become involved if needed. Reporting bullying helps ensure that the right adults can step in to keep everyone safe and supported.
TN Anti-Bullying Laws & Cyber-Bullying:
Tennessee anti-bullying laws cover off-campus conduct if the behavior is directed specifically at a student or students and has the effect of creating a hostile educational environment or otherwise creating a substantial disruption to the education environment or learning process.

All states have anti-bullying legislation. When bullying is also harassment & happens in the school context, schools have a legal obligation to respond to it according to federal laws. TN requires schools to enforce a policy that prohibits harassment, intimidation, bullying or cyber-bullying.
