We are delighted that St.Joseph's NS have been awarded the Active School Flag.
For the month of November all the staff members aimed to walk/ run 60km in 4 weeks. Everyone counted their km's at the end of the week. It was a great incentive to get active and moving before Christmas. We walked a total of 1,686km in the four weeks. Well done to everyone that participated.
Well Done Kinvara hurlers from all in St. Joseph's N.S.
Well done to the boys and girls in 5th & 6th class for taking part in the hurling and camogie blitz. They enjoyed playing against other schools. A huge thanks to Gort Community School for organising the day. The children loved meeting the Galway Hurlers Conor Whelan and Gearoid McInerney.
David Huban is coaching the 3rd class hurling and camogie. The children are plating fun games, improving their fitness, co-ordination and skills. Their striking and catching are improving every week. The children love playing a match against their classmates.
A tennis coach came to the this week. He took every class for a tennis lesson. The children played games such as dodge ball and the catcher. Rob taught the children the lines on the court; base line, inside and outside tram line. They also practiced the volley and smash. The children had great fun!!
On the weeks leading upto ASW, all classes were asked to think of an Active School Slogan for St.Joseph's N.S. The children designed creative and colourful posters with their slogan on it. The slogans were hung up around the school to encourage everyone to be more active and remind them that we are an Active School. As part of ASW we decided to pick the best slogan winner in each class. Conor Whelan presented the winners with certificates and prizes on Wednesday of ASW. Well done to everyone for their fantastic effort.
A great start to our schools active week.
