Changing the world starts with small steps! Here are some things that you could do at home:
Millions of sea creatures die every year from plastic waste. Many of which die from being strangled by plastic. To prevent this, when you dispose of plastic waste or plastic rings, cut them so sea creatures and other wildlife won't be strangled by them in the first place.
Buy items that are biodegradable, this means that they will compost very quickly and that they are not harmful to the environment.
Turn off electrical devices that you are not currently using. For example, turn off the lights of rooms that you aren't currently inside.
Livestock produces 14.5% of greenhouse gasses. It takes 2 gallons of water for every 100 pounds of body weight for a single cow. Cows also eat grass, grain, and hay which takes water to grow. You don't have to become a vegetarian, but by giving up meat every Monday you can make a big difference.
Reuse the plastic bags you've previously used to prevent sea life from choking on the plastic bags that end up in the ocean after you throw them away.
There are thousands of activists around the world who use their voice to encourage others to stop climate change. You don't necessarily have to protest in order to make others aware about climate change. Little things also help, such as telling family and friends.
Some places don't have compost bins, which means the compost people have, go to landfills. You can help prevent compost from taking space in landfills by making a compost bin. You can use the dirt you get from the compost bin to make a garden.
Try not to toss items if you can reuse them for another purpose. For example, you could use a toilet paper roll to make a pencil holder.
Turn off sinks and other water wasting devices when you aren't using them. This will decrease the amount of water wasted from running the water unnecessarily.
