Wrestling Head Coach :Rick Buckwalter- Coach Buckwalter has been coaching wrestling in King George County since 1988 at the recreation, middle school, high school and club levels.  In the 2022-2023 season, Coach Buckwalter led King George Middle School Wrestling to a 6-3 dual meet record, third place finishes at the Fear the Pack Duals and Warren County Duals, first at the OC Rumble and a third in the BMSAC tournament.  In 2023-2024, Coach Buckwalter returns for his 11th season as Head wrestling Coach for KGMS in search of his team’s first BMSAC tournament crown.  Coach Buckwalter currently resides in King George County with his wife, Lori of 23 years, children, Nik, 23, Noah, 20 and Selena 15.


Cheer Head Coach: Kara Limbrick- Coach Limbrick leads the highly successful KGMS Cheer team.  A former cheerleader herself, Coach Limbrick brings a very high level of knowledge and passion to the program.  Coach Limbrick has over 13 years of cheer coaching experience.  She started coaching cheer at KGMS in 2016 and prior to coming to King George, she coached at the middle school, JV, and Competition levels.  In addition to serving as KGMS Cheer Coach, Mrs. Limbrick is in her 10th year as an English Teacher at KGMS. 


Boys Soccer Head Coach: Mitch Persun- In his first season as KGMS Head Boys Soccer Coach, Coach Persun led the team to the 2023 Battlefield Middle School Athletic Conference Championship.  In addition to serving as boys soccer coach, Coach Persun is Assistant Coach of the KGMS Wrestling team.  A former standout soccer player and multisport athlete, the Penn State graduate and Pennsylvania native has been a fixture in KGMS Athletics for over 6 years. Coach Persun is the proud father of three children in KGCS and works as a Science teacher at KGMS.

Assistant Soccer Coach- AJ Thomas 

Girls Soccer Head Coach: Samantha Usina- Coach Usina has been around soccer her entire life.  She started playing when she was 3 years old, played top level travel soccer from age 10 through high school while also playing 4 years of Varsity at her local high school.  She attended Indiana State and played soccer there until an injury pulled her away.  She has continued to play as an adult and has played in 7 states and 2 countries for tournaments over the years.  She began her 21 year coaching career with camps for the youth of her area and then was hired on as a JV coach in a northern Indiana high school.  From there she also began coaching a U10 premier girls team and won a regional championship with them 3 seasons in a row.  She has coached parks and rec and rec plus while here in Virginia.  She was involved with her children's team when they played in Spain and has had the opportunity to co-coach with a British coach and learn many new European techniques of coaching with them.  She is currently an E licensed coach in the state of Indiana and a Grassroots coach here in Virginia.  This is her 3rd season with KGMS as the head coach.  In 2022/23 she took her team to an undefeated season and a win in the first ever Battlefield Middle School Athletic Conference Championship. She has 3 boys who all play in the local area and attend King George schools and has a husband who is a state level soccer referee.


Girls Volleyball and Softball Head Coach-Matt Limbrick - Coach Limbrick is a 11 year Civics and Economics teacher at KGMS. He has been in charge of the Softball and Volleyball programs for 6 seasons. Softball went 12-1 in the 2023 season and won the Conference Championship. During the 2023 Volleyball season, the team was undefeated, only dropping 2 sets.They hosted the first Conference Title match and won in 3 sets.  Both teams have strong athletes who continue to the next level and have success at the JV and Varsity Program. The goal for our coaching staff is to develop players to become better athletes and humans by the end of their time at King George Middle School. We strive to have athletes compete week in and week out both on and off the court/field. Matt loves coaching, it has become a new found passion of his. 

Assistant Volleyball Coach-Claire Overstreet

Boys and Girls Basketball Co-Head Coach: Austin Noel-  Coach Noel currently serves as Head Coach of KGMS Girls and Boys Basketball   A highly skilled, positive coach who brings out the best in his players,  Coach Noel is a graduate of James Madison University and serves as a PE teacher at KGMS. Coach Noel came to KGCS from where he coached them to the BMSAC Championship. Coach Noel and his wife welcomed their first child in the fall of 2023.

Boys Basketball Co-Head Coach: Eddie Schill-  Coach Schill brings more than 20 years of coaching experience to KGMS. Coach Schill has been an Assistant coach for Middle School Basketball, Football, High School JV Basketball and Varsity Baseball.  In addition, he has also Coached Travel baseball, Parks and Rec, Little League, Youth Soccer and Flag Football.  Coach Schill was at two sport athlete when at CBHS, has been married for 18+ years, and has two children playing sports for KGCS.  Coach Schill works at Dahlgren Navel Base.

 Boys Basketball Assistant Coach- Bart Nave- Mr. Nave is originally from Alabama and a proud alumnus of Auburn University where he received a bachelor's degree in Education and as well as Master’s degree in School Counseling. Mr. Nave has been a Psychology teacher, school counselor and coach for multiple sports during his 25 year career. The thing he likes the most about King George Middle School is the family atmosphere and the awesome students. Go Foxes!!


Track Coaches: Nicole Marckel, 

Track Coach- Kristin Tidwell- Mrs.Tidwell has been working with King George Middle School athletes for three years. Before joining the middle school team she assisted with Ospreys Running Club for 5 years. As a distance runner herself, she I hopes to share her love of running with the kids and motivate them to do their best. Coach Tidwell has her certification for coaching track with USA track and field. 

Boys Baseball Head Coach: Chris Lewis-Coach Lewis is in his second season with the  KGMS Baseball team. Coach Lewis brings many years of playing and coaching experience to the team. Coach Lewis has over 30 years of playing and coaching experience to include the Colligate level. In addition to coaching with KGMS, Coach Lewis also coaches 13U Travel baseball and helps with his daughters 10U travel softball team.  Prior to joining the KGMS staff, Coach Lewis has coached JV at KGHS and Varsity at Massaponax HS. Coach Lewis works with Bakers Baseball when he can assisting with skills clinics for kids ranging from 7-14 years old.. Coach Lewis’s wife also teaches in the county and he has a son and daughter who both attend KG County schools. If Coach Lewis isn’t on the field coaching, he can usually be found attending various baseball games in the area cheering on current and former player 

Baseball Assistant CoachAdam Tutor -Coach Tutor is new to the KGMS Baseball team. Coach Tutor served 12 years in the US Army and is currently a Fire Marshal for the state. Coach Tutor brings a high level of knowledge and passion for the game and is a certified USA Baseball coach. Coach Tutor has over 20 years of playing and coaching experience to include the Colligate level. In addition to coaching, Coach Tutor currently serves on the Board of Directors for King George Little League as a coaching coordinator to help build and develop coaches. He is dedicated to helping youth develop their skills to make it to the next level. Coach Tutor works with Bakers Baseball conducting skills clinics as well as strength and conditioning camps. Coach Tutor has a family with 6 boys and resides in King George.

Games Operations Director: Jenn Watson has been with KGMS as a CTE teacher for 8 years. During her first year, Ms. Watson was responsible for ticketing for several sports and keeping score for both boys’ and girls’ basketball. Ms. Watson was also KGMS’ assistant track coach during her first year. Ms. Watson went on to lead the track team for the next three seasons as their Head Coach. Ms. Watson became the only scorekeeper for both basketball and football during her second year. As time went on, Ms. Watson’s role within KGMS Athletics grew and she became well-known by all of the refs and fans as an integral part of the KGMS athletic community. Ms. Watson also has a great relationship with the KGHS athletic department and assists them when needed.

Athletic Director: Matt Smith is new to KGMS and serves as Athletic Director and a CTE teacher. Mr. Smith is a former college soccer All-American and professional soccer player who went on to become one of the top 10 soccer coaches in NCAA history. As Head Coach, Mr.Smith has won and lost a national championship, won 7 conference titles, 4 Eastern College Championships, earned the NCAA National Academic Award 17 times, and produced players who played professionally, and at the highest level for our country.  In 2014 Mr. Smith was chosen to the Maryland Soccer Legends Hall of Fame.  Mr. Smith is an NIAAA Certified Athletic Director and is the proud parent of three grown children- Katie Walker- US Army Captain, Sophia Smith- Actress, Julia Smith- Teacher, and one grandchild, Piper Walker- age 2.
