SUMMER INFORMATION!!!!

Since the Athletic Director at the Middle School does not work during the summer, it is very important that you read the following information!

In order for your child to participate in conditioning and try out for any sport at the Middle School, they must get a VHSL physical and turn it in to receive a "Blue Card". The Blue Card signifies to the coach that you have given the proper information to the AD and have permission to participate in drills. Without the Blue Card the athlete will NOT be permitted to participate until they get one. 8th graders are also subject to grade checks based on end of this year. Any more than 1 failing grade will disqualify them from participating next year.

With the above said, the AD will maintain summer hours of 1p-3p on Tuesdays (except July 9) to collect Physicals and issue Blue Cards. If you turn the physical in any other time, the front office will place them in my mailbox and I will file them and issue blue cards the next Tuesday I am in.

It is imperative that if you want your child to participate in conditioning that you plan ahead. As shown above if you miss getting the blue card you will need to wait a week for your next chance to receive one!

The best way to get in touch with me during the summer for questions is by email. I have my school email on my phone and usually answer rather quickly. Check the team pages of this website for any updates to conditioning schedules. As of writing this the information for Football and Cheer is already up. For Girls Basketball and Volleyball we are waiting to find out when we can use the HS since we cannot use our own gym this summer. For Soccer, we anticipate conditioning starting in Late July and tryouts the first week of school. Basketball usually tries out Early August before school starts. Volleyball usually tries out the first week of school. You will need to check this website frequently to get the most up to date information. I also routinely post to the KGMS Middle School Forum on Facebook as well.

As always, I want your child to succeed. If for any reason you just cannot find the information you need on the website, please email me at wrichter@kgcs.k12.va.us
