Thank you Delegates and Delegations for an amazing KeysMUN III! Please fill out feedback:
Position papers are not required for beginner committees. However, if you are in a Beginner committee, you are encouraged to write a position paper if you wish to receive feedback on it (to prep for future conferences!). You can still submit position papers now for feedback, because points deducted for lateness will not affect in-committee grade.
Intermediate/Advanced delegates must submit position papers to be eligible for awards.
Position papers (policy memos) due before 10/21 at 11:59pm (3 days before conference) to receive full points*
Position papers hard due 10/24 6:00PM to be eligible for awards, if you are in Intermediate or Advanced committee
Because the due date has passed, position papers submitted now will have several points deducted for lateness (more each day past). You will still be eligible for awards, including the research award.
However, this does not apply to Beginner committees, because position paper points do not affect your scoring.
Style: Times New Roman, 12pt, double spaced. MLA citation format, with in-text citations and works cited page (included in template). There is no hard limit on your position paper, but we recommend a length of four pages (double spaced).
Please use this template and guide for how to write your position paper.
*Not applicable for beginner committees
Contact us via email if you will be unable to submit your position paper by the stated deadline. We are happy to grant reasonable extensions.
POSITION PAPER SUBMISSION - LATE SUBMISSION
First, make a copy of this template and guide for your position paper.
Email position papers to keysmun@keysschool.org in the form of a PDF or Google Doc with title "Your Country - Your Committee Name - Policy Memo".
Please title the email in the subject line as: "Position Paper: Your Country - Your Committee Name".
If you are submitting via sending in a google doc link, you must set sharing settings to anyone with the link can view. This is IMPERATIVE for chairs to view your position paper, otherwise, it may be considered late if we can't access it. For this reason, we recommend that you simply send us a PDF.
Additionally, delegates are encouraged to write a one-minute opening speech. There are many resources online on how to write your MUN opening speech. This speech (for speakers list) will be graded in-committee, so you don't have to send your speech to us and should keep it in a separate document, not with your position paper.
The use of AI is not tolerated for writing position papers, speeches, or resolutions. AI may be used to conduct basic background research, but it is plagiarism to fail to cite the original source. For this conference, we do not allow the use of AI text in writing. Delegates misusing AI may be prohibited from receiving awards.
The background guide is released! We highly recommend reading the entire background guide to gain a basic understanding of the issue and your committee, in addition to doing your own research.
