Some books to add to your library:
Practice cutting over the summer. Cut different lines and shapes.
What about adding some art in the world around you? Paint some rocks, or seashells and leave them out for people to see.
Go Outside and Get Creative!
This summer, explore the outdoors and collect natural materials like leaves, flowers, or seashells. What can you make out of them? Use your imagination to create art in nature—arrange, build, or decorate using what you find. Let the natural world inspire your creativity!
Think about making art for people to see or even take!
Paint rocks or shells, and put them out in the community for people to see. Maybe positive words, or colorful designs, what would make someone smile and represent you to the world?
Keep a sketchbook and draw what you see! Observational drawing is so important as an artist. The more you draw, the better you become. Take your sketchbook with you and draw what you see! Take a break from observational drawing and draw from your imagination, take the viewer to far away places, filled with magical creatures!
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
This summer, start collecting paper scraps and interesting images to reuse in a future collage project. You’ll be giving new life to old materials—and getting creative while helping the planet!
Try weaving with your favorite color papers.
Try using found objects, like CD's or paper plates to create a radial weave.
Make sure it's a CD no one is using, and a clean paper plate :)
