About Mrs. Clark
I'm a Driller alumnus from the class of 2000 and I've been teaching at BHS since 2004. I met my husband at BHS my freshman year of high school and we have three sons: Liam- 12, Brooks- 7, and Ben- 5. My husband A.J. is a firefighter for the city of Bakersfield and is a Battalion Chief stationed in Battalion 2. Sometimes he is on the local news in a white helmet !
Mrs. Clark was formerly the Dean of Instruction at BHS from 2009-2017. She retired from administration when her youngest son Ben was born with a serious congenital heart defect. (see link to story here : www.bakersfield.com/news/from-joy-to-concern-to-terror-bakersfield-couple-take-emotional-roller-coaster-ride-when-their/article_5178fbf7-590c-5f5e-afcf-d747a8e8423b.html ) After he had open heart surgery at 4 days old, Mrs. Clark decided to retire from the administrative life and work just part time in the math department.
I teach only 3 classes, periods 2, 3 & 4. However I am happy to help students using my LIGHT BOARD from home in the evenings if you have questions on homework- email me to make an appt to ZOOM at a time that works for us both!

MISSED YOUR FINAL? Makeup exams will be proctored to avoid teachers missing additional instructional time. With this in mind, Warren Hall 12 will be open for makeups- UPDATE: ADMIN STAFF WILL BE CALLING STUDENTS OUT OF CLASS AT SPECIFIC TIMES TO MAKE UP THEIR FINALS-- LOOK for a BLUE SLIP being sent to you in class!
7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (call outs will happen) on the following dates: Jan 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th for any student who is needing to complete a MATH final exam. The time will be supervised by a certificated substitute.
IT IS THE STUDENT'S RESPONSIBILITY TO SHOW UP AND ATTEND their 2 hour window (during one of the 4 above dates in WH12) IF THEY MISSED THEIR FINAL exam- follow up with me if you did! Admin has your name and exam to take.
I will submit exams for makeup for ANY students with missing final exam score. Again, it is THE STUDENT's RESPONSIBILITY to attend during a 2 hour window of the dates listed above to make up their final. I will be submitting their semester grades as they stand on the due date, and if a final exam makeup score comes in I will then submit a grade change form.
Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions

until then.....
... below are an example of some lessons we did during distance education last spring....
Day 53
re-spiraled our learning of graphing using a "baby table" x= 0 &
y = 0 to solve and acquire two points on a graph.
(problem 3 from our past homework)
Day 54
Today we began re-spiraling our learning of Unit 1 concepts from the first semester, focusing on ORDER OF OPERATIONS and "P.E.M.D.A.S"
Parentheses
Exponents
Multiply & Divide (from LEFT to RIGHT!)
Add & Subtract (from LEFT to RIGHT!)
Day 54
SECONDARILY we re-spiraled our learning of graphing using a
"baby table" x= 0 & y = 0
to solve and acquire two points on a graph.
(see notes above from day 54)
Day 54
Order of Operations REMINDER VIDEO!
Day 58
respiraling of ratios & rates
BELOW are some notes you may have missed (FROM UNIT #6)
Day 45_1 of 2
Day 45_2 of 2
Day 46
"re-spiraling"
Whats in a box/whisker plot?
Qi Q2 Q3 max & min
these show us the basics of b&W plots!
DAY 47: Measures of spread
range
iqR: inter quartile range
what is standard deviation?
remember we are not CALCULATING it (that will come in your statistics class) we just want to be able to INTERPRET it......
Standard deviation
"The average distance from the mean of ____ is about ____."
THE STANDARD DEVIATION IS: The average distance from the mean in any given data set.
basketball team example question -->
(see hand written light board notes above)
the probability line
day 48 re-spiraling
see day 48 PPT presentation in CANVAS
and the
soultions are.....
Day 49:
simplifying fractions
day 49: get M.A.D to change mixed numbers to improper fractions
day 49: get G.l.a.d to change improper fractions TO mixed numbers
steps to add or subtract fractions
more practice....
LIBRARY update
Happy 1st Day of School! The library is currently undergoing a carpet replacement over the next two weeks. While we are very excited for our new carpet, we are unfortunately not able to be open during this time. You may still return your old library books to the "Book Depository" located to the right of the library entrance doors. You have access to all of our virtual Library resources in Canvas.
