These activities, inspired by Chapter 3 of the California Mathematics Framework, are designed to strengthen number sense in young learners. Each activity invites students to explore mathematical ideas through hands-on materials, collaborative thinking, and purposeful play.
Together, they support educators in bringing the Framework’s vision to life by offering engaging, developmentally appropriate experiences that build confidence, reasoning, and a positive relationship with math in TK–2 classrooms.
Spotlight Resource: Count Play Explore (CPE)
Count Play Explore (CPE) for Early Education offers professional learning resources designed to strengthen early instruction in math, science, and computer science. The collection supports leaders, coaches, and professional learning facilitators working with educators of children from birth through age eight. CPE promotes rich, engaging learning experiences and encourages an integrated STEAM approach across early childhood settings.

Math Multilingual Learner Toolkit of Strategies
The Math Multilingual Learner Toolkit of Strategies is a practical, research-based resource that supports educators in integrating language development with rigorous math instruction. Aligned to the California English Learner Roadmap, it offers clear strategies, planning tools, and instructional routines that help teachers create inclusive, engaging classrooms where multilingual learners can fully access and succeed in mathematics.
