NEW NEWS!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing to address a growing concern that has come to our attention regarding student interactions in group chats.
While technology offers many benefits for staying connected, we’ve observed that some group chats—particularly those on messaging apps and social media platforms—have become spaces where inappropriate behavior, exclusion, and even bullying can occur. These digital interactions, though outside the classroom, have a direct impact on students’ emotional well-being and their relationships at school.
We want to emphasize a few key points:
📱 Group Chats Are Not Always Safe Spaces Students may feel pressured to join group chats to “stay in the loop,” but these chats can quickly become overwhelming or toxic. Unkind messages, teasing, and exclusionary tactics are unfortunately common.
🧠 The Emotional Toll Is Real Even if bullying happens online, the effects are deeply felt in person. Anxiety, isolation, and a drop in academic performance are just a few of the consequences we’ve seen.
👨👩👧 Parental Awareness Is Crucial We encourage you to talk with your child about their online interactions. Ask them how they feel about the group chats they’re in. Are they positive and inclusive? Or do they cause stress or discomfort?
💬 What You Can Do
Monitor your child’s digital activity and encourage open communication.
Help them understand that they can leave a group chat that feels unhealthy.
Remind them that kindness and respect should extend to all platforms.
Report any serious concerns to us so we can support your child appropriately.
We are committed to fostering a safe and respectful environment for all students—both in person and online. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this further, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Thank you for your continued support in helping our students grow into thoughtful, responsible digital citizens.

We started our Principal Cabinet this week! One task that these leaders were tasked with was to choose what kind of celebration will we have since our Braves did such a great job with BoosterThon: sliming, human sundae, or pie in the face for voted staff members to enjoy! Our top two Homerooms will get a front row view while our other Homerooms will get to watch a live stream! Pictures will be surfacing soon!
We LOVE to celebrate our BRAVES! Let me take a moment to explain different ways that we intentionally do:
Positive Referrals: Staff members will send a "referral" of great character to the office for administration to communicate out. You may get a call or an email about what your child has been recognized for.
Monthly Student Awards: This will start on October 3rd for September's focus: RESPECT! Each month there will be different focuses, winning students will get their picture taken, and students will receive a certificate to take home!
Nine Weeks Awards: Superior Attendance (95% or higher), A Honor Roll, A and B Honor Roll. The week after you are able to view report cards, these certificates will be handed out to our students who achieved these goals.
House Awards: This year we are adding HOUSE AWARDS! Our first go with these awards will be happening on October 3rd during our Homeroom time. More details about this focus will come soon!
Yearly House Awards: This is a YEAR LONG achievement as well as other areas of study. More specifics about these will be communicated during the 2nd semester.

You may have read the following, but the dates of these events are coming soon! Be in the know! Read below!
On September 26th, for 6th graders only, Alliance for Children will deliver a lesson on Suicide Prevention, which meets the state requirements of HB-3908. This will be done during your child’s FLEX period.
If you have opted your child out of counseling services, they will not receive this lesson.
However, if you said yes to counseling services, you still have the option to opt-out of this particular lesson by filling out this form: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zf0m5cBNsDdd4inIQUCVKtyeNhrhcTIyszzx4UyvElg/edit
Please have the form turned into the office no later than Sept. 24th.
Also, on September 26th, for 5th Grade only, Alliance for Children will be teaching a lesson on coping skills. This lesson will be taught through our FLEX Period.
All students opted into counseling will receive this lesson. 5th grade does not have an additional opt-out opportunity like 6th. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to Mr. Seibert at 817-744-3713 or jake.seibert@kellerisd.net.
Students who have opted out of counseling will not receive this lesson.
We have been provided with a Parent Lesson Preview Link that allows parents to browse through an online booklet that contains information on each of the lessons Alliance for Children offers. The 5th Grade Lesson can be found on page 9 and the 6th grade lesson can be found on page 15.
NURSE'S CORNER
Thursday, September 25th and Friday, September 26th, 5th grade girls will be screened for abnormal curves of the spine. These spinal screenings will be conducted by trained screeners in Keller ISD in the afternoon on both days. BCI Families,
We are so excited the Scholastic Book Fair is coming to BCI! This is a great opportunity for families and students to connect with each other through the thrill of new books to explore together! Studies show students are more likely to read when they choose books themselves.

REFLECTIONS
Reflections 2025-2026 theme is: "I belong!"
We're so excited about this year's Reflections theme, "I Belong!" This year’s theme is a powerful idea submitted by 6th grader Ben Morgan from Idaho, who shared:
“I have found belonging with my family and friends. The people in my classes can also be like part of my family, even though we aren’t directly related. For me, 'I Belong!' means I know where I am accepted, and I know that I can be myself there without being criticized or judged.”
Whether your student loves to draw, dance, write, compose music, take photos, or make films, this is their chance to shine and reflect on where they feel they truly belong.
ENTRIES DUE NOVEMBER 5th!
Be sure to check the rules by category to ensure their work meets all guidelines:

Questions? Reach out to PTA Cultural Arts Chair April Hetherington at: april.hetherington@kellerisd.net
We can’t wait to see what your Braves create!
Do NOT send food that contains or may contain peanuts or tree-nuts to be eaten as a snack in the classroom. Snacks that do not contain nuts as an ingredient but say they may have been processed in a facility that has peanuts/tree-nuts will still be allowed as a snack.
Birthday parties are a special time for children, and we want to celebrate your child. If you want to send something fun to celebrate, we are requesting that you send non-food items (bubbles, pencils, stickers, etc...). Please do not send a treat containing peanuts/tree-nuts. Any treat brought into the classroom to be consumed by other students MUST be store bought with the ingredient labels attached.
Thank you for being a big part of helping keep BCI safe for all students!
We have students/staff with different allergy needs - some very severe. A severe allergy is an allergy that may cause an anaphylactice reaction. A child with a serious food allergy can suffer a reaction merely by touching an allergy containing food.
STUDENT ARRIVALS
Thank you for dropping off your student(s) in the student loop using Phillips Dr. between 7:15 am and 7:45 am at Door #6. If it is past 7:45 your student will need to be dropped off in the front office to obtain a tardy pass for class.
The front entrance, Door #1, of the school is reserved for carpooling students of 3 or more who attend BCI. We reserve the front entrance also for SPED buses and those who are on crutches or in wheelchairs.
As a reminder, for the safety of our students and staff, no cell phone use is allowed, the speed limit is 10 mph on school property, and 20 mph in School Zones.
STUDENT DISMISSAL
Student dismissal will have a staggered release. Our BUS riders and WALKERS will be leaving their classrooms at 3:13 PM. In years past, over 70% of our students rode a bus for our PM routes, so, as you can imagine, we will have a lot of students leaving at this time. There is not a designated area where walkers are picked up. Please communicate with your student where you will be each day so that your walker will know which crosswalk to use. We have crosswalks on the south side of campus that cross Bear Creek Parkway and another that crosses over Phillips Drive on the north side of campus. If you are parking your vehicle in our neighborhoods around us, please be respectful by not blocking driveways, walking on lawns, or speeding. We are surrounded by a sweet community and a beautiful park, so we want to make sure we take care of these areas.
At 3:15, our CAR RIDERS will be dismissed. We do not call out names. Students are instructed to watch as the cars pull up to see where they would need to use the crosswalk, if needed. We will have many adults out to help encourage our students to keep watching for you as you safely drive around the loop. Remember to stay off your cell phone in our loop for safety reasons.
For the first week or so of school, please continue to communicate with your student how they will be getting home. i.e. which bus to get on, which location to walk home, who will be picking them up etc. Some times students get very nervous during this new transition and we want to ensure you student gets home safely and on time.
DRESS CODE
Thank you for partnering with us and ensuring your student is meeting the KISD dress code.
Adherence to the dress code helps us ensure we have a safe and distraction free learning environment. Here is the link to the KISD Dress Code Guidelines. This information can also be found at www.kellerisd.net under the Resources tab and then by clicking on the Code of Conduct & Student Handbook button.
Our students have been GREAT with following our cell phone expectations this year! First - a cell phone is NOT a needed supply. :) By 7:45 AM, cell phones should be turned off and placed in the student's locker. If a student needs to use the phone, we have passes ready for students to come up to the office to use a campus phone. At the end of the day, students are able to access their cell phones when they are outside of the building. To read more about this policy, please refer to KISD's Student Handbook by following the steps below:
