Cell Phone Expectations
Cell Phone Expectations
Our students have been GREAT with following our cell phone expectations this year! First - a cell phone is NOT a needed supply. :) By 7:45 AM, cell phones should be turned off and placed in the student's locker. If a student needs to use the phone, we have passes ready for students to come up to the office to use a campus phone. At the end of the day, students are able to access their cell phones when they are outside of the building. Welcome to BCI!
We are excited to welcome Mr. Truong to Bear Creek Intermediate as our Armed Campus Security Officer for the 2025-26 school year.
Mr. Truong joins us from Timberview Middle School where he has been serving as a Keller ISD Security Specialist. He brings along with him a wealth of law enforcement experience, having retired from the Orange County (California) Sheriff Department. There, he served as a training officer and was the recipient of two lifesaving awards. He has been part of the KISD Safety and Security team for the past three years.
He will be visible on our campus daily and his duties will include routine door and perimeter checks, assisting staff with arrival and dismissal, supporting student supervision during recess and lunches, and overseeing emergency response drills and training throughout the school year.
The addition of armed security officers on campuses is part of Keller ISD’s continuing efforts to maintain a safe and secure learning environment for our students and staff.
Please join us in welcoming Mr. Troung to the BCI family!

Braves! We will start to communicate out Brave Community Involvement (prior/after school events) that we have to offer on September 2nd, however, we will start by advertising our BCTV/News! Both of these communities are vital to our video announcements as well as keep us all updated on the latest events here at BCI! If you are interested, please fill out the form found on the Google Slide by September 4th! Tryouts will be held on September 9th!

On September 9th starting at 5:30 PM, we invite our 5th grade parents to a night where you will get to hear from your student's core content teachers speak about curriculum, learn about the day to day expectations, and be able to see how the classroom is set up. You will also have a chance to visit our GT Specialists, Dyslexia Specialists, and our IST.
Please note we will start at 5:30 PM. This is not a come and go event.

On September 11th starting at 5:30 PM, we invite our 6th grade parents to a night where you will get to hear from your student's core content teachers speak about curriculum, learn about the day to day expectations, and be able to see how the classroom is set up. You will also get a chance to listen to our CoCurr teachers speak about their curriculum and events that will be happening this year!
Please note we will start at 5:30 PM. This is not a come and go event.
REFLECTIONS
Reflections 2025-2026 theme is: "I belong!"
We're so excited about this year's Reflections theme, "I Belong!" This year’s theme is a powerful idea submitted by 6th grader Ben Morgan from Idaho, who shared:
“I have found belonging with my family and friends. The people in my classes can also be like part of my family, even though we aren’t directly related. For me, 'I Belong!' means I know where I am accepted, and I know that I can be myself there without being criticized or judged.”
Whether your student loves to draw, dance, write, compose music, take photos, or make films, this is their chance to shine and reflect on where they feel they truly belong.

Join us at Keller High School's Orchestra Hall for our Parent Meeting. The orchestra hall is on the right side of KHS and is marked with door 4. Look for the Keller Orchestra yard signs out front! Hope to see all BCI orchestra students on August 25.

If your student had difficulty connecting today, please make sure they have completed the steps below to update their device. STUDENT ARRIVALS
Thank you for dropping off your student(s) in the student loop using Phillips Dr. between 7:15 am and 7:45 am at Door #6. If it is past 7:45 your student will need to be dropped off in the front office to obtain a tardy pass for class.
The front entrance, Door #1, of the school is reserved for carpooling students of 3 or more who attend BCI. We reserve the front entrance also for SPED buses and those who are on crutches or in wheelchairs.
As a reminder, for the safety of our students and staff, no cell phone use is allowed, the speed limit is 10 mph on school property, and 20 mph in School Zones.
STUDENT DISMISSAL
Student dismissal will have a staggered release. Our BUS riders and WALKERS will be leaving their classrooms at 3:13 PM. In years past, over 70% of our students rode a bus for our PM routes, so, as you can imagine, we will have a lot of students leaving at this time. There is not a designated area where walkers are picked up. Please communicate with your student where you will be each day so that your walker will know which crosswalk to use. We have crosswalks on the south side of campus that cross Bear Creek Parkway and another that crosses over Phillips Drive on the north side of campus. If you are parking your vehicle in our neighborhoods around us, please be respectful by not blocking driveways, walking on lawns, or speeding. We are surrounded by a sweet community and a beautiful park, so we want to make sure we take care of these areas.
At 3:15, our CAR RIDERS will be dismissed. We do not call out names. Students are instructed to watch as the cars pull up to see where they would need to use the crosswalk, if needed. We will have many adults out to help encourage our students to keep watching for you as you safely drive around the loop. Remember to stay off your cell phone in our loop for safety reasons.
For the first week or so of school, please continue to communicate with your student how they will be getting home. i.e. which bus to get on, which location to walk home, who will be picking them up etc. Some times students get very nervous during this new transition and we want to ensure you student gets home safely and on time.
How Do I Know When My Child Has Lunch?
If you would like to know when your student eats lunch, please look below. First, you need to know which teacher your child has for 6th period. Then look at the chart below. Keep in mind that your child may have a different House teacher. L means lunch and R means recess.

Birthday Treat Reminders
Birthday Treat Reminders
Do NOT send food that contains or may contain peanuts or tree-nuts to be eaten as a snack in the classroom. Snacks that do not contain nuts as an ingredient but say they may have been processed in a facility that has peanuts/tree-nuts will still be allowed as a snack.
Birthday parties are a special time for children, and we want to celebrate your child. If you want to send something fun to celebrate, we are requesting that you send non-food items (bubbles, pencils, stickers, etc...). Please do not send a treat containing peanuts/tree-nuts. Any treat brought into the classroom to be consumed by other students MUST be store bought with the ingredient labels attached.

We have students/staff with different allergy needs - some very severe. A severe allergy is an allergy that may cause an anaphylactice reaction. A child with a serious food allergy can suffer a reaction merely by touching an allergy containing food.
Answers to Why?
Why drop off lunch 10-15 mins before dismissed for lunch?
We can find student to let them know, especially if it is a surprise! That way, the student can enjoy his/her full lunch time.
Why should you pick up students 15 mins before you need them for an appointment?
We would suggest to give a little more time. It can take us a few minutes for the student to collect their items and come down to the office.
Why do you need to sign in, even for lunch?
The answer to this is easy: safety.
Why do we ask parents to wait in the foyer?
When there are a few people chatting in the front office, it can be hard to hear people on the phone or others talking to us. We do appreciate keeping the office noise level low so that we can speak to people on the phone, address people in the office, and try our hardest to keep needs confidential.
Why do we send messages to students between the last 2 periods?
We wait to deliver between the last two periods of the day so that it is less likely that students would not forget or lose messages throughout the day. If the student needs to know a message that will be happening sooner in the day, those will be delivered promptly.
Why do we ask parents to pick up students for early dismissal before 2:45?
At that time of the day, students are starting to conclude their last period class. Students and teachers prepare to systematically go out to the lockers to pack up at the end of the day, allow students to go grab instruments, or take care of any needs prior to leaving. We just would like for people to be aware that after 2:45 it could take longer to locate students due to the movements of preparing to leave.
Why do we ask parents if the student knows he/she is delivering lunch? Lunch time in the front office is a busy time of day. They do not want any student to miss out on the opportunity of a lunch being delivered to them. This question is asked so that our front office staff knows if they need to call the classroom to let your student know to swing by the office to pick up their lunch prior to getting down to the lunchroom.
Why do we ask students to remember their adult’s phone numbers? To be able to call home, especially if the office is busy. Please know that we can help look a number up in Aeries, however, that may take a moment if there are more being helped in the office.
Why do we ask students to remember or have access to their student ID?
The student ID is a number that identifies each student. This ID number is typed in by the student if he/she is purchasing an item from the cafeteria, if he/she is late to school in order to get a tardy pass, and is used in the library to check out books.
Why can we not call students down before you get here?
For security reasons, the district has asked us to keep students in their classrooms until we can verify adult identification.
Why do we use legal names in the school?
In the office we use legal names and not nick names to be able to find your student on Aries.
Why do we still ask students to label items with their names?
If an item is lost, we can easily get it back to the student if the item has his/her name on it.
Why do we donate lost and found items each month?
If an item has not been claimed in our Lost and Found, located near the cafe, we donate those items due to overcrowding. This will take place at the end of each month.

Keller ISD is proud to have Texas Central School Bus as the District’s transportation provider! TCSB has a fleet of 243 buses and provides transportation to over 7,500 students across the District.
KISD is required to provide bus service to eligible students who live more than two miles from their campus of regular attendance and for special needs students who require transportation to attend school.
