Pharmacology

Braincept Pharmacology is a game designed to test the players knowledge of drug mechanisms and main side affects.

Each box contains 15 drugs used to treat common disorders of a body system. Players select patient record files and try to pick the correct drug to treat their patient. After selecting a drug the team need to match the correct mechanism of action and predominant side affects to it.

The game allows players to learn and revise their knowledge of drug mechanisms.

The pharmacology series was our first game developed and has been played with students internationally.

Currently we have both a respiratory and neurology version of the game with other versions in production

Play in teams of 4-6 players working collaboratively to increase the knowledge of the whole group

Select the correct drug for the condition the patient is presenting with

Match the mechanism and main side affects to the drug , challenge decisions by other members of the group to benefit your patient

Beware of negative consequences to not selecting the correct drugs. Treat your patient and aim to score high as you complete your ward round

Braincept Pharmacology has a positive affect on learning gain

The effectiveness of the game as a learning tool has been rigorously researched.

Medical students consistently show sustained learning gain after playing the game.

We have played Braincept pharmacology with both UK and International edical Students & Pharmacists .

The findings of the research can be found here
