Important Dates For February & March
News and Announcements
Attention Seniors: February is a month during which students should be focused on making progress on their projects with the next due date being a Progress Check with their advisor during the week of March 11th - 15th. Details for each component of the Senior Project can be seen by students in their Senior Project Google Classroom and the Senior Project Handbook can be accessed on the KRHS Website by clicking the following link: Senior Project Handbook
Remember that it is a KRSD Graduation requirement to complete 20 hours of community service by the time you graduate. Families of those students in the graduating class of 2024 will be receiving letters if limited hours have been recorded at the school. Forms to submit community service can be found on the school website, in your Advisory Google Classroom, and picked up in the Guidance Office. Completed forms should be turned in at the main office or guidance office to be logged.
As you likely know, KRHS was forced to reduce even more buses this year due to driver shortages. At this time, the district only provided bus passes to those students who need an alternate bus for childcare purposes. If a student would like to ride a different bus, a call needs to be made by the school office staff (who the student is asking) to the transportation company to first verify if there is space on that bus. There are between four and six buses that are at maximum capacity and students can't be added to those buses. Thank you for your continued understanding.
VLACS classes need to be done by May 15th to count toward graduation!

SATs will be required for all juniors on March 28th. Now is the time to start preparing!

Seven students competed on January 31st in the school-wide Poetry Out Loud contest. Poetry Out Loud is a national arts education program that encourages the study of great poetry by offering free educational materials and a dynamic recitation competition for high school students across the country.
This program helps students master public speaking skills, build self-confidence, and learn about literary history and contemporary life. Students were judged by a panel of guest judges.
Students first competed in the classroom setting by memorizing a poem from the Poetry Out Loud anthology of poems and scored using a scoring guide that takes into account Physical Presence, Voice and Articulation, Interpretation, Evidence of Understanding, Accuracy, and Overall Performance.
Prior to the competition, students attended a workshop with Brian Evans-Jones, a juried poetry teaching artist in New Hampshire and Maine and has taught Poetry Out Loud workshops in both states since 2016. He has also coached the Maine Poetry Out Loud state champion. He was formerly the Poet Laureate of Hampshire, UK (where he lived before moving to New England in 2014), and was the poetry winner of the 2017 Writers Exchange Award from Poets & Writers.
Congratulations to the winner, LILAH BARTHOLOMEW, as well as our two (TIED) runner-ups, Oliver Andrews and Sage McGowan. Lilah will be moving on to the semi-final competition which will be held on February 22nd at 6:00 PM at New England College.
