Returning Back to School During a Pandemic
Kings Canyon Unified will be starting the school year with distance learning, as per the requirements of the state. The National Association of School Psychologist (NASP) provides some helpful tips and information for parents when making a decision on whether to have their children return to school or not, if and when the school districts reopen. What is Distance Education?
KCUSD will begin a new type of remote learning called Distance Education.
Distance Education means there will be daily scheduled online interaction between students, teachers, and classmates.
All students will receive new instruction, based upon state standards and board adopted curriculum. Completion and quality of work will determine students’ grades.
Traditional grading practices will be in place for all grade levels:
TK - 5 standards based
6 - 12 letter grades
Daily attendance will be take
Our District will continue to provide:
A positive learning experience.Technology support for students and families.
Technology for students in need of a device and/or connectivity to the internet.
Social, emotional, and behavioral support.
Meals for students.
The accommodations necessary to serve students with IEPs and 504 plans.
Designated and integrated English Language Development as well as assessments for English language proficiency and the ability to reclassify as English proficient.
Timely, accurate, and responsible communication.
