Public schools listed on each school district site. There are private and alternative schools available in many communities as well.

• School District 8> Kootenay Lake - serves Nelson, Salmo, Slocan, South Slocan, Winlaw, Crawford Bay, Kaslo 

• School District 20> Kootenay-Columbia - serves Castlegar, Rossland, Trail, Fruitvale 

• School District 51> Boundary - serves Grand Forks, Greenwood, Midway and Rock Creek

• School District 10> Arrow Lakes - serves Nakusp, New Denver
