How to support your new physicians & nurse practitioners

What can you do?

• Provide a good orientation from the very beginning

• Create a sense of belonging in the clinic by invitations to dinners/special events/activities 

• Offer them opportunities to contribute in a meaningful way to the leadership in the clinic

• Support fair and equitable payment structures

• Support the physician to take time off by finding locums in advance

• Introduce the physician to the local community with their unique  social interests in mind

• Find a peer to peer connection

• Check in on a weekly basis to see if any other support is needed especially the first couple of months
