Building Collections in Destiny Discover
What is a Collection in Destiny Discover?
The Collections tool in Destiny Discover is a powerful tool that will allow you to gather and organize digital resources that you can reference and share with colleagues and peers. The Collections tool is particularly powerful because it allows your to organize library resource, database resources, and items from the general internet all in one location.
It is similar to a Pinterest board.
This library website contains abridged directions to get you started using Destiny Collections. To access the full set of tutorials and guides please visit the Collections Help Center.

How do I add resources to my Collection?
Once you have created a collection, you can use the search bar to search for resources available in the KHS library.
Once you type something into the search bar, you will be taken to a screen that shows you what books, eBooks, and audio books the KHS library has available on the topic you searched. If you would like to add that item to your collection, simply click the "Add to Collection" button located to the far right of that item.
You can also add resources from other people's collections by clicking "Collections" at the top located next to the "Books" tab. You can also add resources from "Databases" and "Open Educational Resources" by clicking on those tabs, respectively.
When in your collection, you can also click the orange plus sign to add other library resources to your collection.

Can I add resources from the internet but outside of the KHS library to my Collection?
YES! And this is probably the Collection tool's most powerful feature!
In order to add outside links to your collection, you will need to add the bookmarklet tool to your bookmarks bar. This is a one time step (per computer you use this tool on).
To access the bookmarklet you will need to make sure that your bookmarks bar is visible on your web browser. Watch the video below showing you how to make your bookmarks bar visible.
Once you can see your bookmarks bar, and while you are logged in to Destiny Discover, click the small circular icon located at the top right of the screen. Then click "My Profile".
Once you are taken to your profile in Destiny Discover, click the "Install the Bookmarklet" link located at the bottom of the page.
This will redirect you to a screen showing you how to install the bookmarklet tool.
Once the tool is installed, you now have a button located in your bookmark bar that will allow you to effortlessly add any web resource to any collection you have created.

Can I share my Collection with others?
You can invite anyone to view and collaborate on your collection, and, you can collaborate on collections that others have shared with you. When you share your collection with collaborators, any items they add will appear in your collection.
To add collaborators on a collection:
If you are wanting to collaborate with other Katy ISD students or staff members, navigate to the collection you want to share.
In the collections header (top-left hand side of your collection), click the three-pronged share icon.
Click +People then type in the e-mail addresses for each person you would like to invite to collaborate in your collection
In the drop down, chose your share level
either "Can VIEW" or "Can EDIT" as your preference and then click "Invite".
An e-mail notification will be sent to your invited recipients.
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each collaborator you want to invite.
To just share a link to your collection:
If you are wanting others to view your collection rather than collaborate in your collection, you can just chose to share the link to your collection. After clicking the share icon on the top-left hand side of your collection, chose either "OFF-Only you have access" or "Anyone with the link can VIEW" or "Anyone with the link can EDIT".

Can I turn my Collection into a PDF?
For each collection, you can create a PDF with QR codes that link directly to your resources. This makes it easy to print or share your collection with others.
Open the collection you want to create the PDF for.
In the collection's header, select > Create PDF
Select one of the following:
Detailed to create a PDF with each resource's QR code, title, author, call number, description, image and weblink.
Condensed to create a PDF with each resource's QR code, title, call number and image.
A PDF of all items in that collection either opens automatically, or a message lets you know it has downloaded to your computer.
