Spelling

This is the essential spelling list,  it is generally accepted that by the end of year 6 students should be able to spell all the words up to the end of List 6.

How to do your spelling:  Start at List 5:  Get a buddy to test you on all the words in that level. Take the first ten that you do not get right in a list. 

There is no easy way to learn spelling words.  Here are some tricks to help you.

• Take a word such as  'neither'  to learn it write down the first letter,  then go down a line and write the second letter,  down another line and write the first three letters.....                                                eg.

ne

nei

neit

neith   etc

• Write them out ten times each.

• Put each one in a sentence.

• Write your word backwards.

Get tested by your buddy until you know them.
