Nomination and Application

2nd-round Applications

Courses that can accommodate more students after the 1st round of applications will be open for the 2nd round of applications.

The 2nd-round application does not require a nomination from students' home institutions. Any students who are motivated to study Japanese and Japanese culture can apply.

Nomination and Application Procedure

The coordinators from our partner universities are asked to nominate their students by filling in the form below. The number of nominees should be agreed upon beforehand. Nominees will receive their application number.

2. [Completed] [1st Round] Application (January 4th - January 15th 15:00 JST)

Nominees should apply for this program by filling in the form below. The following documents should be uploaded.

Logging in to a google account is needed. In case a student does not have a google account, s/he should sign up for one.

If there is any trouble accessing, contact international@kanda.kuis.ac.jp.

Change the file name of each file to "Application#_Name". (e.g. "15_Taro_Kanda.pdf")

3. [Completed] [1st Round] Class Placement (Deadline for first assignment: January 14th)

Students should take the placement test by the deadline, and will be placed in their appropriate class level (Level 2 - 7).

8. [Completed] [2nd Round] Class Placement (Deadline: February 25th)


4. [Completed] [1st Round] Notification of Acceptance

Applicants may be declined because of fulfillment of the requirements or any other reasons. Please note that acceptance is not 100% guaranteed.

5. [Completed] [1st Round] Course Registration

Applicants will sign up for their preferred courses by filling in the form below.

  • There is no minimum or maximum number of courses taken.

  • Students will choose courses of their level.

  • The morning classes (M) and afternoon classes (A) have the same contents. Students will attend EITHER of them.

  • "Interaction with Japanese" is the core course. Although it is not necessary to sign up for it, it is strongly recommended if the schedule allows.

  • "Interaction with Japanese" needs attending three times a week, while other courses basically meet once a week.

  • If the number of sign-ups exceeds the capacity of the course, students will be asked to move to another course or randomly selected (no first-come-first-served basis).

6. [Completed] [2nd round] Pre-application (February 8th - February 11th 15:00 JST)

Some courses still available after the 1st round of applications will be open for the 2nd round of applications. Currently, students of the 1st-round applications are registering their courses and courses available for the 2nd round will be announced by Feb 8. It depends on the result of the class placement which courses you can take.

If you are interested in taking part in the program, please fill in the form below. Your application number will be automatically sent to your registered email address when sending this form.

If the number of this pre-application exceeds the capacity, students who intend to take "Interaction with Japanese" might be prioritized as it is the main and core course of this program and we would like many students to join. They will be informed by email after February 12 whether they can participate or not.

7. [Completed] [2nd round] Application (February 15th - February 25th 15:00 JST)

Students who are informed that they can go on to the application process should apply by filling in the form below. The following documents should be uploaded.

11. Orientation

An orientation session will be held (planned to be a synchronous meeting or recorded video).
