Math
Roll the dice, share a slice!
Counting helps to develop a conceptual understanding of quantity and numerical values. Our learners were engaged in a counting activity wherein they had to roll a dice and find the group of objects that represented the number on the dice. This activity helped in the engagement of multiple senses, including sight and touch. Visualizing groups of objects and physically moving them while counting tangibly reinforced the concept of numbers, making learning effective. Counting presented opportunities for problem-solving and critical thinking stimulating cognitive abilities. Mastering counting independently, gave them a sense of accomplishment and confidence in their abilities.
Wellbeing
Which letter are you?
Get ready to learn letters by diving into the exciting world of body movements! Today our learners formed letters using their bodies. Learning letters through body movements taped into multiple senses simultaneously. Learners observed the shapes being formed, heard the corresponding letter sounds and physically enacted the motions, catering to diverse learning styles and maximizing engagement. From stretching high to touching their toes, they discovered the incredible things their bodies could do. It allowed learners to learn coordination and integration of various muscle groups. As learners stretched, bent, and twisted to form letters, they developed spatial awareness, balance, and fine motor skills, fostering holistic learning and physical development alongside cognitive growth. Body movements offered a canvas for creativity and self-expression. Learners experimented with different ways to represent each letter, adding a playful element to the learning process. This encouraged imagination and originality, making learning letters an enjoyable and personalized endeavour. In our classrooms, we're not just learning with our minds, but with our bodies too!
Music
Listen and Balance
Exposure to music enhances a child's natural ability to decode sounds and words. In this session, learners participated in a passive listening activity where they performed the actions to the 'Freeze Dance' song. Later they tried the song with a challenging twist where they had to perform the actions by listening to the action words in the song and at the same time focus on balancing a piece of paper on their head, and not let it fall while performing the actions.
