Numeracy
Driving into Numbers: A Fun Way to Park Learning!
Recognizing numbers is a key part of early numeracy and builds the foundation for future math skills like counting, comparing and problem-solving. To make this learning experience fun and engaging, we introduced the Car Park Maths Game, where learners picked a toy car with a number on it, then searched for the matching parking spot by counting the dots in each space. They drove the car to the correct spot, matching the number on the car with the dots in the parking lot, reinforcing their understanding of number-symbol relationships and one-to-one correspondence. This hands-on activity supported the development of essential skills such as number recognition, counting, matching, fine motor coordination, logical thinking and social skills like turn-taking and patience. It also encouraged independence and confidence as children made connections and completed the task on their own.
Language and Literacy
A personal touch: Beautifying letters and building literacy
Understanding the alphabet is a foundational step in early literacy, helping children develop essential reading and writing skills. One meaningful way we explored this was by encouraging learners to recognize the letters of their names—creating a personal connection to the alphabet. Each child identified the letters of their name and then coloured and decorated them on a name tag, making the learning process both fun and memorable. Through this activity, learners not only strengthened their letter recognition but also practiced fine motor skills, creativity and self-expression. It also boosted their confidence and sense of identity, as they took pride in personalising their work. Activities like these help lay the foundation for early literacy, encouraging children to engage with letters in a meaningful and joyful way.
Buddy Up: Building friendships and teamwork
Understanding the world includes developing social skills and friendship is a key part of this. To encourage connections, learners were paired up as buddies, each receiving a “Buddy Batch” as a symbol of their new friendship. Over the weeks, they got to know each other by sharing tasks and supporting one another. This activity fostered collaboration, empathy, and teamwork, while helping learners practice communication, problem-solving, and responsibility. Activities like these build emotional intelligence and social competence, laying the foundation for positive relationships and cooperation in future learning environments.
STREAM
Our enthusiastic EY2 learners had a wonderful time engaging in a hands-on clay activity that sparked their creativity and imagination. Using soft clay, they explored rolling, pressing, and shaping techniques to create a variety of simple structures such as balls, snakes, and small towers. As they molded the clay, learners also shared what they were making, using descriptive words and explaining their ideas. This activity not only helped enhance their fine motor skills but also encouraged expressive language and imaginative thinking. It was a joyful and meaningful experience that supported both their sensory development and creativity.
Yoga
Today's yoga session with EY2 Learners was a delightful experience, introducing them to three foundational asanas that promote physical awareness, balance, and flexibility.
The children enthusiastically participated and showed curiosity about the poses.
Some children needed assistance with balance in Trikonasana, which was provided through gentle guidance.
Tadasana helped them understand the importance of posture and grounding.
The session was a wonderful way to introduce EY2 Learners to the basics of yoga, fostering both physical and mental development. These asanas laid a strong foundation for their future practice, encouraging mindfulness and body awareness.
Music
This week, our young learners had an exciting introductory music session filled with joy, movement, and song! We kicked things off with the upbeat tune “I'm So Happy”, which quickly became a favourite. Through this engaging musical activity, children warmed up their voices, moved to the rhythm, and sang with enthusiasm.
Beyond the fun, the session supported the development of important skills-such as listening, rhythm awareness, and expressive language. It was a beautiful start to our musical journey, where every note and giggle helped build confidence and connection. We can’t wait to continue exploring music together.
Atelier
Color Exploration Fun!
This week, our little learners had a colorful adventure through a fun tearing and pasting activity! Using colored paper, children explored various hues while strengthening their fine motor skills. They tore paper into different shapes and sizes, then created bright, imaginative collages. This hands-on experience helped them recognize colors, express creativity, and develop coordination—all while having lots of fun!
Happy Birthday Vedanshi!
