Scribbly Doodly Doo!
Children are natural-born artists, uninhibited by self-doubt or concern for the outcome. Random scribbling, a simple yet profound activity, holds immense value in fostering creativity and cognitive development in young children. Nursery learners were provided with crayons and paper & were encouraged to scribble or doodle on it. Through the joyous exploration of lines and colors, preschoolers embark on a journey of self-expression and discovery. Random scribbling provides preschoolers with a blank canvas for their imagination to run wild. With no rules or guidelines to constrain them, learners are free to express themselves in any way they choose. The act of holding a crayon or marker and making deliberate marks on paper contributes to the development of fine motor skills in preschoolers.
Take Away Activity
Imprints to grow
To celebrate the beginning of their learning journey, our nursery learners participated in a special Seed and clay activity! Each child received a little seed plate to take home, along with a sweet poem encouraging them to plant their seed and watch it grow, just like they will, day by day, in nursery.
This hands-on activity was a beautiful way to connect nature with learning. As the seeds sprout and grow, we hope they remind our little ones (and their families!) of the exciting growth ahead—full of curiosity, care, and wonder.
We can’t wait to see how both the seeds and our learners bloom this year!
My hand print on the First Day
The first day of school is a momentous occasion filled with excitement, nervous energy and anticipation. To mark this special day and create lasting memories, we embarked on a colourful and creative journey through palm printing. With each press of their palms onto paper, the learners created stunning outlines that mirrored the beauty of their individuality. Their eyes sparkled with delight as they beheld the intricate patterns and shapes taking form beneath their fingertips. Each palm print became a masterpiece on its own, a reflection of the boundless creativity and joy that filled the room. Each palm print was unique to the learners who created it, reflecting their individual identity and personality. Through this meaningful activity, learners express themselves visually, leaving their mark on the classroom.
Water Transfer Challange
Sponge transfer is a simple yet engaging activity that not only entertains learners but also teaches them valuable lessons about water, absorption and motor skills. With just a sponge and some water, learners embarked on a hands-on learning adventure that sparked curiosity and fostered a sense of discovery. In the sponge water transfer activity, learners were provided with a tub filled with water and a sponge. Their task was to transfer the water from one container to another using only the sponge. As they dip the sponge into the water and squeeze it over the second container, they witness the magic of absorption as the sponge releases the water droplets. As learners engage in this activity, they not only develop their fine motor skills but also learn about the concept of absorption. They observed how the sponge transforms when immersed in water, becoming heavy and saturated with liquid. In addition, this sponge transfer activity encourages creativity & problem-solving.
Meal Time
Meal time was a happy highlight on our nursery learners’ first week! After washing their hands, the learners sat with new friends and enjoyed their tasty, healthy meals together. It was a lovely time to try new foods, practice using spoons and forks, and share smiles and kind words like “please” and “thank you.” We loved seeing them build confidence and connections as they ate, chatted, and settled into their new routine. What a wonderful start to the journey!
