The guidelines for development and operation of enrolment schemes are issued under section 11G (3) of the Education Act 1989 for the purpose of describing the basis on which the Secretary’s powers in relation to enrolment schemes will be exercised.
Automatic enrolment only applies to those prospective students that live within the Home Zone. For out of zone prospective students, including siblings of current students, the out of zone process detailed below will apply.
Out of Zone Enrolment Information for the 2027 Intake
The Kaipara College board has determined that 40 (forty) places are likely to be available for out-of-zone students in 2027. The exact number of places will depend on the number of applications received from students who live within the school’s home zone.
The deadline for receipt of applications for out-of-zone places is Wednesday 2nd September 2026
You must complete this online enrolment form if you wish to apply for an Out-of-Zone place for your child to start at Kaipara College in 2027.
If the number of out-of-zone applications exceeds the number of places available, students will be selected by ballot. If a ballot is required, it will be held on Wednesday, 9 September 2026 and conducted in accordance with instructions issued by the Secretary under Section 11G (1) of the Education Act 1989. Parents will be informed of the outcome of the ballot within three school days of the ballot being held.
Applications for enrolment will be processed in the following order of priority:
First Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of current students.
Second Priority will be given to applicants who are siblings of former students.
Third Priority will be given to any applicant who is a child of a former student of the school.
Fourth Priority will be given to any applicant who is either a child of an employee of the board of the school or a child of a member of the board of the school.
Fifth Priority will be given to all other applicants.
Applicants seeking first or second priority status may be required to give proof of a sibling relationship.
