Tui Whānau 2021

Welcome to our Tui Whānau class site for 2021. We are Year 6 & 7 students at Kaingaroa School and our teacher this year is Mrs Broadwith. We use our class site to access our mahi to learn, create, and share. Our learning is visible and rewindable so that we can access it anywhere, anytime.

Please take a look around. Enjoy and send us some feedback so we know we're doing well.

Monday 18th October 2021 - COVID-19 Update

Kia ora Tui Whanau,

This afternoon we will hear if we are staying in Level 3 lockdown for another week, or moving out into level 2. If we are fortunate enough to move to alert level 2 then our tamariki can return to school. Just to reassure you our teachers have recently returned a negative Covid test.

If we do remain in Level 3 then our class will continue via google hangouts. Kaingaroa School will be open for those tamariki (children) whose parents or carers need to go to work and cannot look after their children. If this is your child, please email the office by 1.00pm today if you are in this situation so we can plan for students at school. All students who work at school will still follow the online programmes as teachers are required to run these as well so they will be one class in a bubble of ten.

Above is a link to our class google hangouts which will run at 9.30am and 11am for 30 minutes every day during L3, to check in with the learning. These have been going really well and it has been great to see so many of the class attending.

The 11am session will be more like a tutorial for those who would like extra support with the learning, so not everyone needs to attend - just like at school. There is also a Teacher Aid Google Link where Ben and Amanda can work with some of you.

As always I will be checking my emails regularly throughout the day in case you, or your parents, need support, and giving feedback on your learning. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact me at anytime on my email: eliseb@kaingaroa.co.nz or call or text me on my mobile: 021 351 730

Wednesday 1 st September 2021 - COVID-19 Update

Kia ora Tui Whanau,

Tomorrow afternoon we will hear if we are staying in Level 4 lockdown for another week, or moving out into level 3. It is likely we will move out. The ministry guidelines are clear that at alert level 3 children and young people should still learn from home. Therefore, on Monday, the majority of Tui students will continue with their online learning programme from home, which I will continue to put up on our class site.

However, Kaingaroa School will be open for those tamariki (children) whose parents or carers need to go to work and cannot look after their children. If this is your child, please email the office by 1.00pm today if you are in this situation so we can plan for students at school. All students who work at school will still follow the online programmes as teachers are required to run these as well so they will be one class in a bubble of ten.

Friday 20th August 2021 - COVID-19 Update

Kia ora Tui Whanau,

This afternoon we will hear if we are staying in Level 4 lockdown, or moving out into level 3. It is likely we will stay in lockdown. If so, on Monday Tui will begin a more structured learning programme, with literacy, maths, and extra curricular tasks set for the week. Our class site is ready to go, and will have the information and activities you need for as long as you need to stay home.

The teachers have been granted access to go into the school briefly to get anything that is needed. I will be going in on Monday morning to get all the chrome books for Tui and Huia students who did not take them home. Miss Wentworth, Mrs Potter, and Mrs Hancock will deliver them to you. They will beep and you will need to go out and collect them.

Tuesday 17th August 2021 - COVID-19 Update

Kia ora Whanau,

You will be aware that on Tuesday evening the Prime Minister advised that the whole country will be moving into Level 4 for at least three days. This means Kaingaroa School will be moving into lockdown and will be closed for the remainder of this week. While we are in level 4 lockdown, we ask you to be vigilant and to stay at home unless you need to go out for groceries, exercise, or medical reasons. Our class site is ready to go, and will have the information and activities you need for your child to learn at home for the remainder of the week.

Below is a link to our class google hangouts which I will run at 9am and 11am for 30 minutes each day to check in with the students. I will be checking my emails regularly throughout the day in case you, or your students, need support.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at email: eliseb@kaingaroa.co.nz.
