Element H: PROTOTYPE TESTING AND DATA COLLECTION PLAN

Testing Plan

For the testing of the product, we will take the prototype to various bodies of water to test the effectiveness in different locations. At each of these locations, different types of plastic objects (water bottles, plastic bags, styrofoam cups, etc.) will be placed in the water and we will attempt to pick them up using the device. Results of the testing will be recorded in tables and analyzed to determine the effectiveness of the device in different types of water and its ability to pick up different types of plastics. Finding the bodies of water in which the device is most effective can help in our marketing of the product. One major thing we will be looking at during the prototype testing is determining if the interior fans are actually beneficial to the plastic collection. If they are detrimental or have no effect then it is important for us to continue to develop the idea in order to create the best product possible. Another major thing we will be looking at is the ease at which the device is controlled, as easier control allows the user to collect plastic much more efficiently.
