Students who experience problems following the reasonable expectations of the student code of conduct may be placed in Poor School Standing. As well, excessive absences or tardiness, excessive academic failures or repeated failure to show adequate academic progress, failure to attend required remediation/tutorial, failure to pay fines or required fees or repeated refusal to follow directives of teachers, staff or administrators can lead to Poor School Standing. Additionally, legal community incidents can also result in Poor School Standing. A student remains in Poor School Standing until a review indicates appropriate conduct in line with school requirements and expectations.
A student who is in Poor School Standing may be limited in their participation in any and all school activities outside of the normal academic classes; their attendace may also be restricted to any / all activities, assemblies, clubs, dances or sports events, wherever they may take place.
As well, driving and parking privileges at the school may be revoked when a student’s status is Poor School Standing. A student who is given one or more full days of ISS / STEP may be ineligible for any after school activities until released from said disposition by principal or designee.
Students who are suspended from school will be placed on Poor School Standing during their suspension and may incur additional days as determined by administration.
It should also be noted that a student considered in Poor School Standing may also have the approval of a change of venue / transfer request revoked.
