The rights of all students as guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States; the Commonwealth of Virginia; and applicable federal, state, and local statutes are recognized and protected.
Title IX: In accordance with Title IX of the Educational Amendments of 1972, Albemarle County Public Schools adheres to the policy that “No person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied benefits of, or be subject to discrimination under any education program or activity…”
Complaints: Should a student or parent believe that the student has been discriminated against on the basis of sex, including sexual harassment or sexual assault, by an employee or another student, they should contact their teacher, the school principal, a vice principal, or the ACPS Title IX Coordinator. Section 504: School Board of Albemarle County has established policy (Nondiscrimination Policy and Complaint Procedures) as a way to provide prompt and impartial review of complaints alleging any action prohibited by Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
