“As dawn broke on June 6, 1944, German soldiers defending the French coast at Normandy beheld an awe-inspiring sight” (President Roosevelt) WWII was a devasating war a lot of people killed and 11 million people of a certain group called the Jewish killed by a Germany leader named Hitler. WWII provided both threats and oppurtunitys to all different types of communties and today I will provide you 3 types of communities.
WWII was a threat to Indigneous americans because Marine Dan Akee said “There were psychological effects from his being in combat as a code talker” (Akee). This shows a threat because it left him with a cost from working in the war. It was hard to work in the war as a code talker as indigneuos people because they did not treat you the same.
WWII was d an oppoturnity to women because they finally got to work and not be a stay at home mom Meda Montana Hallyburton Brendall said “Brendall worked seven days a week as a shipyard welder” (Brendall). This shows the opportunity that women got to work and finally not be a stay at home mom.
WWII was a opportunity to black and brown americans the according to Langston Hughes the Jim Crow laws treated black and browns so poorly. He compared Hitler and the muslims to the jim crow laws in a bad way “Cause everything that hitler and the muslims do Negores get same treatment from you” (Hughes) This was a threat because Jim crow laws mistreated black and brown communites.
WWII provided both threats and oppurtinites to these different groups. We talked about Indigneous people and Dan Akee and how he had physiological effects from being a codetalker in the war. We mentioned Meda Brendall and her seven days a week as a welder and how this provided her a job. Last thing we talked about was Langston hughes and his poem about Jim crow laws and talking about Hitler and the muslims. From what we read a lot of stuff happened during WWII and it was very crazy and I hope you enjoyed.
