“What did it take to secure equality during the Reconstruction era between 1865 and 1900?”
Equality was attempted to be secured during the Reconstruction between 1865 and 1900 as evident by the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. The 15th amendment contributed to attempting to secure equality because it allowed men of color to vote but it didn't secure it because women still couldn't vote. The 13th amendment also attempted because it Abolished slavery but it didn't secure equality because it put more black people in prison systems than ever before. The 14th amendment also attempted to secure equality because It granted citizenship to all persons born or naturalized in the United States. It did not secure equality because it had multiple reasons but the big one was African Americans' rights were still being denied.
The 13th Amendment was created on January 31, 1865.
How did it secure equality? It abolished slavery it stopped enslaved from working for white people with no pay. The 13th Amendment to the Constitution did not end discrimination against those who had been enslaved and blacks. The 13th Amendment failed to fundamentally transform the structures of anti-Black violence and degradation that contoured Black lives. https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/09/opinions/13th-amendment-slavery-involuntary-servitude-joseph/index.html

Mapping America, My Map of History
This location is located in Washington D.C. Ford theatre looks pretty big very basic colors like red and white has three story's and could fit a lot of people in it. This place looks like a place for rich people like Abe Lincoln. This is the location where Abe Lincoln was shot in the back of the head by John Wilkes Booth. This location is important because we lost a president that was trying to stop slavery and put a person who wanted to keep slavery going.
This location is located in Washington D.C. This place is pretty bland just all white but really huge on the inside and the outside this place doesn't really impress me. This is the location where the 13th amendment was passed by the senate on April 8, 1864 by the house on January 31st, 1865. This location was important because this was the amendment that abolished slavery. This was important because now enslaved African Americans were free from working with no pay.
This location is located at the south wing of the house of representatives. This location is a pretty basic scene with a lot of white on the outside with white pillars. On the inside there is a lot more colors including the U.S flag. There is a lot of chairs with blue lines going between the columns. This place looks like a pretty formal and important place. This is the place where Andrew Johnson got impeached for violating the Tenure of Office Act. This location is important because Andrew Johnson was hugging the south and the south was a bad place because they wanted to bring back slavery.
