All first-time freshman students who apply for fall admission to USD are automatically considered for up to $4,000 per year. Coyote Beginnings is available to recipients for up to four years as a full-time student and is based on GPA, standardized test scores and committee review.
The Coyote Beginnings may include a combination of funding from other scholarships or additional sources awarded to you. Although there is no deadline or separate application for this award, you should apply to South Dakota prior to April 1 for full consideration.

Sanborn County Pheasants Forever Scholarship
$1,000 scholarship to one student from Woonsocket and one from Sanborn Central
Students should be graduating seniors with a minimum of a 3.0 on 4.0 scale or equivalent grade point average.
Students must be pursuing a degree at an accredited institution of higher education (i.e. Junior College, Community College, Technical College, College or University).
Students pursuing a Wildlife or Conservation centered degree will receive application points but all majors are strongly encouraged to apply as most points will come from essay.
Students must actively participate in hunting, fishing, or support conservation and the preservation of our natural resources.
Students must be involved in school extracurricular activities (i.e. FFA, Oral Interp, Student Council, etc.).
Students must demonstrate leadership among his or her peers.
Students must demonstrate community leadership and/or involvement (i.e. 4-H, civic group or club, scouting, volunteer work).

Applicant must desire a career in a retail or retail-related field, including hospitality and trade businesses.
Applicant must enroll in a retail-related course of study at a qualifying, accredited technical school, college, university, or certified professional training institute in the fall of 2025. Enrollment in an online degree program from a qualifying school is acceptable.

Mitchell Technical College is awarding a $5,000 Scholarship to any high school senior or dual credit student looking to enroll full-time in Mitchell Tech’s 2024 fall semester in either the Progressive Welding or Machining and Manufacturing program.
Nominations must come from a student’s high school teacher, counselor, or administrator.
The student must have a high school 2.5 GPA or higher.
The recommendation deadline is April 15, 2024. The scholarship will be awarded by April 22, 2024. The scholarship will be paid out over two college semesters.
