Dual Credit Woonsocket School Rules (effective 05/23)
The student is responsible to pay for all the costs involved. This may include books or programs needed to complete the course on top of the tuition costs.
Students will not be eligible to take summer dual credit courses as the dual credit advisor will not be able to check in with grades.
Junior dual credit students will be able to take 1 dual credit class per semester. During that class period at school, students will be able to leave during that school period, only if their grades remain at a C or higher.
Senior dual credit students will be able to take 2 dual credit classes per semester if they have taken them during their junior year. For first time seniors, they will be able to take 1 dual credit for the first semester and 2 the second semester. During those class periods at school, students will be able to leave during their school periods, only if their grades remain at a C or higher.
Students who consistently are in WIN for late work during their freshmen and sophomore years (4 times per month) will not be eligible for dual credit even with state eligibility.
Reasoning: Dual credit classes require students to work completely independent during these courses. If students show during their freshmen and sophomore year that they are not able to accurately manage their time, be responsible, or be organized, they will not do well in dual credit courses. If too many students do poorly in dual credits, it would reflect badly on our school which could sever those ties with certain universities and colleges.
