National Honor Society

The National Honor Society (NHS) recognizes high school students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship, service, leadership, and character. Membership is an opportunity for students to be recognized for their accomplishments while continuing to make a positive impact within our school and community.

At Colman-Egan, eligible students are invited to apply for membership based on established academic requirements. The application process also considers students' involvement, leadership, service, and character. Students selected for NHS are expected to continue representing these values throughout their membership.

NHS Members have opportunities to:

• Give back through school and community service

• Develop and demonstrate leadership skills

• Participate in NHS activities and projects

• Serve as positive role models within our school

• Celebrate academic achievement while continuing to challenge themselves

Interested in National Honor Society?

Students may begin applying for National Honor Society during their sophomore year. NHS membership is about more than academics—we look for students who consistently demonstrate the four pillars of NHS:

• Scholarship – Taking academics seriously and maintaining strong academic performance

• Leadership – Being a positive influence and willing to step up, help, and lead by example

• Service – Giving time and effort to help others, our school, and our community

• Character – Demonstrating responsibility, integrity, respect, and good decision-making

If NHS is something you're interested in, you don't have to wait until application time to start preparing! Look for opportunities to get involved, serve others, make positive choices, challenge yourself academically, and be a leader in everyday situations.

How Does the Application Process Work?

Eligible students have the opportunity to apply for NHS membership. Mrs. Tammen will share application information with eligible students and will also visit with the sophomore class around the middle of their school year to explain NHS, eligibility, expectations, and the application process.

Freshman year is a great time to start thinking about the four NHS pillars and finding ways to demonstrate scholarship, leadership, service, and character throughout high school.
