I'm so glad you're here! I am so excited to share this space with you!
Welcome to my “Counselor Connection” page. I believe staying connected with students, families, staff, and the community is essential.
As the school counselor, I am here to support all students in three main areas:
Academic Success – Helping with class planning, study skills, and strategies for staying on track toward graduation.
Career & Future Planning – Exploring career interests, preparing for college or technical school, and connecting you with opportunities that fit your goals.
Social-Emotional Support – Providing a safe space to talk, cope with challenges, and build strong life skills that support healthy relationships and decision-making.
A little background about me: Before coming to Colman-Egan, I served as a K–5 school counselor at Sioux Valley School. Transitioning into the K–12 role has been a new adventure—one I’ve taken on with full responsibility and excitement to keep learning the ins and outs. To my parents/guardians reading this webpage, if there is ever a way I can assist you, your child, or your family, please don’t hesitate to reach out: whitney.tammen@k12.sd.us.
I work closely with teachers, families, and the community to make sure students have the tools they need to thrive. Students, whether you’re planning your next steps, need help with academics, or just want someone to listen, my door is always open.
**If you would like to schedule a time to meet with me to discuss any concerns I may be able to help with, please complete the Counselor Request Form
