Dear 8th Grade Students and Families
Welcome to Douglas Middle School and my 8th Grade Computers class! I'm Mrs. Cari Kennedy, and I'm so excited to embark on this technological adventure with you. This semester, in addition to the basics of computer applications, coding, and programming, we're going to dive into the fascinating worlds of digital design and newscasting, exploring how technology shapes our lives and how we can use it to express ourselves and share information.
In our digital design unit, you'll unleash your creativity as you learn to manipulate images, create graphics, and design eye-catching layouts. We'll explore different software tools and techniques, allowing you to bring your artistic visions to life.
Our newscasting unit will take you behind the scenes of the media landscape. You'll learn how to research and write compelling news stories, develop interviewing skills, and even try your hand at video production and editing. By the end of the year, you'll have the skills to create your own newscasts and share your unique perspectives with the world.
Learning is most effective when it's hands-on and engaging. That's why our class will be filled with projects, group activities, and opportunities for you to apply your knowledge in real-world scenarios. I encourage you to bring your curiosity, creativity, and willingness to learn to every class.
I'm committed to fostering a positive and supportive learning environment where everyone feels comfortable asking questions and exploring their interests. Please don't hesitate to reach out to me with any questions or concerns you may have. You can email me at cari.kennedy@k12.sd.us or call the school at 605-923-0050.
I'm looking forward to an incredible year of learning, growth, and fun with you!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Cari Kennedy
