All Juniors will take the ASVAB (Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery)
The ASVAB is NOT just for students who are planning on entering the military. The ASVAB can better help all students to:
Determine their various strengths and skills
Explore career paths that interest them and match their strengths
Discover how their career interests and strengths align.
After the exam, a recruiter will visit within a few weeks and will go over your results with you.
There is no specific test preparation guide created by the ASVAB Testing Program. Instead, it is recommended that students take a solid core of classes in Mathematics, English, and Science throughout their time in high school/college.
These high school/college courses with help you with the following subtests:
Arithmetic Reasoning
Mathematics Reasoning
Paragraph Comprehension
Word Knowledge
General Science
CTE courses will also help you with the following subtests:
Auto Information
Shop Information
Electronics Information
Mechanical Comprehension
These are the subtest groups for the ASVAB. For the Computer Administered ASVAB, each subtest will have 15 questions in each, EXCEPT for: Paragraph Comprehension, Auto Information and Shop Information, which will have 10 questions.
For the paper and pencil version of the ASVAB, number of questions per section ranges from 15-35.
Please reach out to me if you have any questions regarding the ASVAB. If you would like to schedule a retake of the ASVAB, please reach out to your local recruiter at the below email.
