Every week, I will be Reviewing or summing up a book of the students choice! I will send out an e-mail asking what each of you favorite books are and I will get to as many as I can!
Hour of the bees is a heart warming fantasy story about a young middle school girl that is forced to go to her sick Grandfather’s house. Her Grandfather is sick with Alzheimer's and slowly gets worse as time goes on at their small house in the desert. Carolina learns how to do some tasks around the ranch. Her grandpa starts telling Carol stories about an old tree and glass lake, as well as a swarm of honey bees that gathered around a young man’s true love. Carol’s father starts trying to sell the old house, and upsets Carol and Grandpa. Carol had become attached to the ranch by the end of the summer. Before Carol is forced to leave, she plants a small seed she found in the house near an old stump. Carol starts going to school just like any regular day. But one day it started pouring in the dessert. “No rain in 500 years Chiquita” is what her grandpa had always said to her. Carol decides to sneak out and show her grandpa the rain himself. When they get to the ranch, they see something absolutely amazing! You’ll have to read it yourself to find out more!
