Four Points Middle School has some of the best administrators in all of LISD. If you were to ask any student who their favorite adult was at FPMS, most of them would tell you it’s Mr. Crawford. We set out to find out what makes him so special.
Here are the questions we wanted to ask him so I could get to know him better:
Question - What is your favorite thing about Four Points?
Response - "I had a hard time at first. I was an elementary teacher, and I had some anxiety about coming here, just like new students. I really want to change the vibe and the community at FPMS, making everyone feel like they belong. We work best when we have partners."
Question - What do you think we could improve?
Response - "Give students more voice in what is happening, instead of us all telling you what to do we should listen to you. Create a more kid friendly environment, an elementary school environment. and access to engaging courses, like robotics. I just want to improve the culture and climate. I want to build relationships."
Question - Do you have any goals for the rest of the year?
Response - "I have a goal, I want to look at changing the virtual and in person teacher. you´ll see me in the classroom a lot, I see how the teacher can be stressed having to handle both groups. If we had one teacher for the in school and one for the virtual it will make the teacher less stressed and make students feel like they belong and are respected."
Question -What is your favorite place in the whole school?
Response - "I haven't made it to the roof yet, but my favorite place is any classroom with kids in it. Although, we are making a 'Falcon's Nest' for all students!"
Question - Do you think that COVID-19 is harder in 6th grade or 7th and 8th grade?
Response - "That is a hard question, I'm gonna go with 8th grade."
Question - How do you think the students are handling this situation?
Response - “Students have handled this remarkably well, they have been very resilient.”
Question - How do you think the teachers and staff are handling this situation?
Response - “Also remarkably well! We spend a lot of time trying to help teachers and make sure that they want to be here.”
Question - Do you want to tell the people who are reading this anything?
Response - “I cant wait till this is over, I want to connect with our kids. So hang in there, this will pass. I promise to stay with you all and listen to every one of you.
I hope that you now understand how our school and the students mean to our principal. He is kind and loves to listen, he is Mr. Crawford!
