Hello! Welcome!
My name is Sarah Wrolstad. I live in and work in Dryden.
I will be teaching Ojibwe for the Keewatin-Patricia District School Board Virtual School.
I have taught Ojibwe at Sioux Mountain Public School for the last two years.
I am excited to be teaching Ojibwe to your children.
Dear Parents, Families and Caregivers:
This year will bring many new challenges and changes to our usual learning environment. I want to take this time to assure you that all of us here at KPDSB are ready to take on this challenge with a smile on our faces. Although we can not be there in person with your children as they learn from home, we will do everything possible to help your children know that they are part of a safe and welcoming learning community.
This year we will be focusing on learning the basic vocabulary: days, months, weather, numbers, feelings, animals, colours, etc. We will also be learning the grammar structure of the Ojibwe language and will use that to learn how to write simple sentences (past/present/future tense, first person/second person/third person, negatives, plurals, etc.).
Whether your child is fluent in your language, or just starting out, I will help guide them to learn and build on the foundations of the language and the culture, depending on your childs’ personal needs and goals.
I look forward to meeting you and your child, albeit virtually or on the phone, and working together to best support and meet the needs of our students.
Miigwech!
Sarah Wrolstad
