This statistic simply makes the case for WHY you can encourage staff members to use a social media platform to connect. Most staff members will already have a social media account. In addition to the statistic Jacon (2018) shares in her article, Canadian Social Media Stats (Updated 2018), she also shares that 50% of Canadians are connected on more than one platform.
The likelihood of one of the staff members at your school not having social media is low. It's up to your Wellness Team to culturize the importance of connecting, modelling an online presence and choosing the platform that is right for you!

The Wellness Champion has an important job in ensuring that the Wellness Group thrives.
Some important notes about engagement:
- Ensure you have a conversation about the nature of the group and the conversations that are not meant for the group.
- Choose a platform that everyone is using or is excited to explore.
- Encourage everyone to share.
- Allow members to post related content - this is an adult learning model, therefore the content requires little moderation and monitoring.
- Make it a challenge and make it fun!
