Archontophoenix alexandrae, is commonly known as the Alexandra Palm or King Palm. The Palm tree is tall, elegant, and fast-growing palm native to the rainforests of Queensland, Australia.
Height and Trunk: It can reach impressive heights of 15-30 meters (50-98 feet) with a slender, smooth, gray trunk that is often slightly swollen at the base. The trunk is distinctly ringed with prominent leaf scars.
Foliage: It boasts a graceful crown of large, arching, pinnate (feather-like) fronds. The leaflets are typically dark green above and silvery or whitish-gray on the underside, giving it a distinctive two-toned appearance.
Crownshaft: A prominent, smooth, often bright green to dull purple or reddish-brown crownshaft (a cylindrical sheath formed by the clasping leaf bases) sits at the top of the trunk.
Flowers and Fruit: It produces large sprays of small, cream to yellow flowers just below the crownshaft, followed by clusters of round, bright red fruits (1-1.5 cm in diameter) when ripe.
Habitat and Growth: It thrives in warm, humid, tropical to subtropical climates and prefers well-drained, moist soil. It's a popular choice for landscaping due to its elegant appearance and relatively fast growth rate.
