Week 4:
For the last week of HOSA Summer Enrichment students were able to learn about basic Human Anatomy. They get to try the Anatomage and got an experience of what it is like to compete at the Anatomage Competition at HOSA. They also get to do other Medical skills like Fingerprinting which is essential to Forensics Science and Vital signs which is a foundational skill in healthcare.
Week 3:
Students started the week learning a new Basic Medical Skill of bandaging. Within this week several guest speakers were invited to talk about different topics such as Diabetes, Human Trafficking Prevention, Stroke, and Nutrition. By the end of the week, students were taught another Basic Medical Skill which is CPR with AED.
Week 2:
Students learned about the different departments in the hospital through EdPuzzle and they also learned about the different health care careers that are available for them. They created their mini poster of what a health care worker looks like and did a presentation in class. To provide simulated learning students played Friday Night at the ER where each students were tasked to manage patient flow and staffing in the different hospital department.
Week 1:
HOSA Summer enrichment Week 1 started with introductions and familiarizing the procedures and classroom rules. Students learned about safety and did their first lab using a microscope where they saw how plants actually breathe. They created their health posters with the topic of Social Determinants of Health. Most activities during week 1 was geared towards employability skills.
